We need more PR, but that's hard without having public gameplay. Lame thing is that we're really getting there now, so all the contests etc are like 1-2 months too early :(

OMG, COD BLACK OPS WON BEST CONTROL AWARD, I always thought Halo Reach was better :/

Best Innovation in Game Design winner was: HALO REACH! Yay go spartanz!

I only played Super Meat Boy and Limbo, and both were absolutely fantastic games.  Now I really gotta try minecraft.

@Fridge, when do you think those walkthrough vids will be uploaded?

Good point, I've said before that most of the talk in the previous vids was reacting to kinda bs questions and lots of messing around. Aka, that accounts for over one third of the total time (about 20 mins). So I've said that I'll re-record it with a new voice over. I tried to do a take of that earlier, but it turned out to be meh, so I've let it rest while working on something even better. But yes, I should probably go finally do that voice over. I'll see if I can get it done today. Should be a nice moment to finally change the video on the main page. haha.

Consult with Mulle, you don't want to upset the guy by removing his 1337 video oO

Hey, if you plan on eventually playing Minecraft, you really need to get it before the 20th. (http://notch.tumblr.com/post/2175441966/minecraft-beta-december-20-2010)

Somehow I feel Minecraft is a tad overrated, could someone explain to me why it is so special?

I still don't get the fun in an 8-pixel game...

Guys, Halo reach won the innovation award, and call of duty won the multiplayer award. I think it's safe to say that these awards are a joke.

Yeah. I mean, CoD and Reach were the only two games released this year, right?

Reach won innovation because out of the two, aliens are something new.

Call of Duty won multiplayer because I can't take aliens seriously in warfare.

I haven't bought it yet but it should be fun in the sense that it's a sandbox game and you can build and craft many things. Honestly, what interests me the most is any survival element the game has. I can just build stuff for the sake of building stuff, but I need to put it to use. Otherwise, I'd become a mapper and just stare at my maps all day long. Plus, it's only in alpha (beta soon), so I would expect a bunch of things to be added.

That's a really bad reason to not like a game, and then you wonder why games like COD are created ???.

Halo Reach isn't innovative, its the same thing as the past halos with some changes. Call of Duty is ridiculous, the worst part is that people who play that actually think it's realistic. These kinds of games are the reasons why things like SvM don't attract large crowds. Nobody wants a challenge anymore...

No i disagree, I think its because people are so used to being spoon fed crap that they don't know what a real good game is anymore.

That works too, I knew plenty of people that played COD and played SCCT on xbox. They only played deathmatch and they were also terrible.

I'm really shocked that black ops won the multiplayer award simply because call of duty doesn't have and never will have this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=0aw-42JO3qk&gl=CA

I knew Koreans took starcraft seriously, but that may have been the funniest thing I have ever seen.

Instead of firing mortar shells at each other, North and South Korea should just battle it out on starcraft.

If I lived there I would to, flip'in 'ell, you can win 1000 000 yen (80K$?) just by playing and winning.

It sounds like a low res (On purpose) version of Oblivion with Little Big Planet mashed in there. Minus actual quests (until the story gets added during/after beta).

You explore, fight, and create stuff for hours upon end. In this case though your creativity can really flourish. Whether it be a Castle or, again, a giant floating dick in the sky. The possibilities are endless and the execution is simple.

Both things that are liked by people (hardcore and casual).

Perhaps a little nostalgia for the graphics gets some people also.

Minecraft to me is essentially like an adventure game, except you make your own quests.

It's diifficult to give a good explanation of why it's fun, but I think this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaMTedT6P0I) trailer pretty much sums up how I feel about it.

There are 4 difficulties. Once you get bored of that, there is Survival Multiplayer, and once you get bored of that, there are mods. Graphics are 8-bit, but they grow on you. Texture packs can make the game look better (if you want). The game is only in alpha, meaning it will get better and more complex from here.

A few features:

A few features:

  • Minecarts and track
  • Weapons and armor
  • Huge maps
  • Traps
  • Basic logic gates (someone made a simple CPU in-game)

Traps would be great if cactus didn't EAT ALL THE DROPPED ITEMS FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Also didn't he make an ALU?
