Title: I think...
Post by: JrvUnleashed on December 19, 2010, 06:16:21 AM
That Project Stealth should incorporate some features from the highly innovative and original Call of Duty series.

For instance, the game should contain unlock-able perks which give your character special abilities, such as advanced climbing techniques, unlimited sprinting, and heat vision. Furthermore, I think the spies should be equipped with high-powered assault rifles with ACOG scopes to allow for more streamlined and balanced gameplay.(Only mercs have guns? Whasup with that dawg?) Also, the maps need to be simplified. Too much time is spent using strategy and sneaking around while using tactics to accomplish your mission.  People don't want to think, they want to blow shit up and get virtual pussy! The maps should be highly linear and contain simplified routes as to not confuse or bore the player for the 15 or so seconds he may spend before he can get to the merc with his high powered assault rifle. Also, I think since spies are sneaky, they should get sniper rifles because snipers are also sneaky, and in Call of Duty you can have an assault rifle and a sniper rifle with the bling perk. To balance it out, Mercs should get rocket launchers, a radar-styled heartbeat sensor, and a tactical nuke if they get a large killstreak.  Everyone knows that twitch-based action is much more fulfilling than having to think about tactics.
That gets me into aesthetics. I want to feel accomplished when I kill someone, so I want random symbols that I don't understand or recognize to flood my screen every time I kill someone or accomplish objectives. The game should have a very streamlined matchmaking system and a Hollywood storyline to go along with it's over-hyped 3 hour single player campaign. Furthermore, 4 players simply isn't enough. It should be more like 16-32 players. Only having 1 other teammate puts too much pressure on the player and he may feel overwhelmed.

Follow this advice guys, and you've got one hell of an innovative blockbuster title. I'd buy it in an instant, and when you came out with it's sequel in 12 months with 2 new basic features and new skins over the same game engine, I'll be your first customer.

It's slightly annoying but only if you don't realize the absurdity of most games these days, and that's what he's highlighting.

Almost all games are so simple and limited that they're not any challenge nor any fun.

I read it all and idunno if i should be ashamed or not

Prime example of what jvr is talking about, Crysis 1 gave you a large canvas to paint with.  You can tackle most of the objectives in a multitude of ways.  The COD fanboys said bla bla bla its just graphics bla bla bla.  The mere thought of options makes their head explode and they reject it.  They need their hand held through a linear game with auto-aim and max explosions/rapper voice actors.  For the second game, it looks a bit more linear and the COD fanboys are going "maybe I'll give this a try, but will there be zombie aliens?!!"

No Creativity = Game plays for you = Fail =  CoD generation

I hope Deus Ex does well, especially if you have the same range of options as the first game(s).

Move to offtopic so we can rant about how horrible everything ever made ever was.  Ever.

But Kinect is just for 360s, and if I want to wank to an Xbox game I already have Ketsui.

I need something for my PC that will deliver too.

So many pretentious pricks here; COD is a great game in it's own right, and to put yourselves above fans of the game saying they need explosions is so obnoxious. It's a good example of why the COD target audience are out in the world living their lives, and why some of you guys are bashing your keyboard on a message board.

It is a good game, but the thing is there are hell of a lot better games than "IT".

I just hate the way people compare COD to BF, which I find ridicilously st00pid

Omg JrvUnleashed who stole your account. :S

CoD sucks, that perks etc. are just shitty.
Leveling for weapons too.
CoD4 is playable only with promod but this don't change that this game is POOR.

Played ~200h with friends. This game is good for ppl who don't want to think so, just play and aim better and better.

I hate that modern games have so much things from CoD series... it fails.

I don't have to be a developer to call things straight down the middle as i see em.

This topic has no relevenace to contributing to the project. It only discourages new people / degrades

At least I explained my point.  You just say "pretentious pricks" and you're off.  Cool man.  My friends are into COD.  My friends are dumbasses.  I'm sorry that dumbasses represent the fanbase of CoD.  These dumbass friends of mine also log days and days into the multiplayer instead of spending days outside.  I personally like to be challenged in video games.  I've tried to introduce them to more complex/difficult games like Super Meat Boy or the old Ghost Recons.  They prefer simpler games that make you feel cool like call of duty.

And that's fine.  They get their "quick fix" (like you assume) of simple linear gameplay with no room for creativity only explosions.  I do that too.  I put in Halo Reach sometimes just to run people over after a stressful day.  It just sucks that these people who constantly play this way destroy franchises that I used to enjoy.  I know you can't relate because you somehow found a way to play the crap out of Conviction, but I'm sure you can see why I don't personally think this target audience is good for games.  Call me selfish.  Whatever.

Why, JVR, would the team want to turn this into a console type piece of shit? Making this into a game with "Shiny Things" For stupid achiements is a retarded idea. The thing is most of the PS fan base is NOT ADD children with no attention span, we don't need shiny things to enjoy the game. Achiements are for low attention span, obese children who need something to aim for in a game because the rest of their life is pathetic. Why would you think PS would want to go that route?

1 down from me unfortunately, Achievements is something that makes the game more fun, they don't have to be specifically needed, like Starcraft 2 has achievements and they are done for fun, for avatars, for different sigils.
Title: Re: I think...
Post by: Cronky on December 20, 2010, 07:32:52 PM
1 horizontally from me.

Achievements aren't needed. Little gameplay medals (like post-round Halo) would be... something. Stone went all out on this in another thread. Difference between the two? Medals mean nothing. You could argue that achievements mean nothing also, BUT... You don't change how you play based on medals. You don't join a server to sit there and grind out a medal. It's there simply to give you something for something you were already going to do/already did.

Redundant? Yeah.

Fun (for some)? Yeah.

Ignorable (by everyone not included above)? Totally.

I wouldn't mind getting a little medal post-game (Perhaps with a funny picture) that tells me that I killed two people with one grenade that round. Reminds me that I did something "different".

The problem is that it's not CoD or UT game, PS is another type of game, accept it or don't play it.
2v2 is just greatest thing in that game, you should get good mate and play with him like with the best friend. Anyway I know some ppl with who I've played in RL so it's also different game with them now.
No one on that forums get bored of that slow paced gameplay because all here LOVE it.
Spions don't have guns because they ''cannot" kill while doing mission, mercs are like normal security but security of more important things than alcohol shop in your town, they are like Whorehouse security.
"People don't want to think, they want to blow shit up and get virtual pussy!" - If you play with young players then ofcourse, they want to blow shit up, but Versus community is a little different and we don't really want to have next copy of CoD.

Anyway IMHO. Devs will don't even listen to you so, I don't have to care about honest oldschool gameplay. ;D

I hope you get that what I've wrote.  ???

That is true, but it only makes it a better game because it's advertised and seen a lot more than others.

But you can't really compare it to SvM, since it has a different playstyle, and Jrv, don't call people immature, they know what their saying, and right now, you sound like you are the biggest hypocrite after pissing on my Xfire that I play Conviction, which indeed was a great concept and a story mode with Coop, just some of the features didn't work out.
