... The forum started. The devs never told us any deadline for this project but I can make a bet that at least some of them had vision about when it should come out. The community was slowly growing as time passed. Now the forum get's about 1 new member per day. That's good but I think that at this point the devs should be able to judge the speed of work and post a deadline, best this year in November, would be perfect(round five years of work).
Why you SHOULD post the deadline? Because more fans might join the community and there are some people out there who wrote in public that it's an interesting mode worth waiting for, who knows maybe they'll write some more nice things to the wider audience when they'll see the thing? Finally setting a deadline won't hurt you much what's more it will motivate you. Even if you won't manage to do it in time then what's the problem. You will put it off a little but one thing is for certain people work faster when they know that they have some deadline somewhere. The more time you give yourself the more you'll waste... Bullshit you say? Theoretically should be but practically ask yourselves what really happens when you get a lot of free time. :P

Here's hoping they they are! Perhaps AC:Brotherhood is the turning point in which Ubi remembers that stealth/hiding gameplay is their forte. Returning back to SC roots would do them well. By now they could also go, "We're bringing back Spies Vs Mercs!!!" since they now have a game separating the franchise away from it (Conviction). Every bit of gameplay in SC and SvM can be "new" again.
PS on the other hand will always have the ability to outclass Ubi's SvM design (unless Ubi finds itself opening up more to the community, that is). Unlike a big developer, they will be able to change things on the fly if need be. It'll take constant support like that (and more) from the PS team to do so though. Purely multiplayer games need a constant eye watching them, something that single player games do not (look at Valve with TF2). Ubi's fanbase for SvM means nothing if they just let the game go after it's released and never look back. It, like PT/CT/DA, will die out.
We live in the digital age though. Where a game like Minecraft, from a no name developer, can become internet famous. Making well over his wildest expectations. So I wouldn't count PS out just because they're taking their time making the game to the best of their abilities. They just need to make sure it gets seen when they rounding that last corner till completion.
In Minecraft u can make your own maps,things and ...other things,game modes. In PS u cant. Those are different games.
Ps can live long and happy only if Devs will start thinking about fans needs...
But now they only discourage ct fans more and more from PS.

The point of bringing it up wasn't to compare gameplay, though in PS's defense it sounds like you will be able to create maps for PS (when it's released). Instead it was to show that a small team of developers, regardless of time could create something as, if not more, popular than a product from a big name developer.
What's being complained about in this thread though is that they aren't done with the game. We all may be fans of what "could be" with this game, but that doesn't entitle us to some kind of MANDATORY update. It's nice when they do, but that's it.
So yeah, post launch, it WILL depend on the devs to keep the fans happy. Once beta is out, they should update our asses off with things they plan on implementing on the game that we're already playing. Right now though, they just need to finish the game.

I'm pretty sure the question, "when is it coming out?" is much more fun to answer than, "why isn't it out yet?". To put it simply, that is.
The line is getting hazy with threads like this though that make it seem like they've just been sitting on their hands for a long time, without proper mention of the processes they've been through (switching engines or whatever like... what... 2 times. That's a MAJOR "time waste", but all for the betterment of their product).
Perhaps it's just me, but I'm thinking more and more that any update we have at this point in time is just giving the false expectation that it's supposedly coming out SOON (like... next month). While if they wait for when it IS actually coming out soon to blast us away with hot information day by day (or week by week) then it will please the masses much more. Which in turn can be better than giving the small amount of people that actually post our fix of PS news.
Look at any game that comes out now a days. You see some concept art and then they will usually go dark till about a month or so before the release (this is how hype is formed). PS has done the opposite of that and more, they're doing the equivalent of developer diaries, and shocker... speaking with the community. Simply being reinforced that they ARE working on it, and there IS cool stuff they want to show should be enough for now.
With only 10 or so people backing this whole project though really just gives an advantage to the "shut up and get back to work" philosophy. Sure, you make a disconnect for those that have been at the edge of their seat for 4 years and 2 months (as the thread points out), but you will have much more to show come the time when it really matters.

I have to accept with you in that point, but I think bigger PS news should be every month.
Or by time to time anyone from Dev team could upload any screenshot from editor/3dsmax etc.
when he show part of his work etc. ( It don't take even 5 min, but it can make many advantages )

Yeah that really un advisable, 1 person invited 10 people, 8 of them left, 1 of them was fake. I just played AC:B Multi....awesome this multi is in my top 3 multi.Finally ubi make multi where u must think....bah finally someone made multi where u must think. So ...ubi can make good multi and good game. Im waiting for sc6 singl and multiplayer.

Lobby is in game....but da hasnt server list,spect and other things thats true. Bad gameplay is nice.
About their good games:
Far Cry - first one was so nice. Didnt play FC2 but heard its decent
AC - First was decent. 2nd was perfect. Brotherhood not yet out on pc but it seems better than 2 , hence its very very very good.
SC - good till SC:C story wise. Multiplayer though got linched in DA.
Rayman - Don't know this.
PoP - All are good.
XIII - Don't know this.
BG&E - Good game.
Dark Messiah - Decent.
There are tons more like ghost recon games , rainbow six , il-2 sturmovik etc.
AC2 , ME2 and dragon age are the few games i have played and actually enjoyed , which is rare nowadays. (I know me2 and DA are bioware productions but still AC2 is ubi)

I know your kidding but I would like to be clear. In the past 4 years, there have been at most 10 people who have EVER worked on PS in any
significant way. I didn't mean there can be 10 people working on PS at one time. That number is usually more like 1 or 2. Only a few times has more then 2 or 3 people worked on PS at once.
So how do you rotate between people? Do you have some timetable? Curious...
No, people just dont do stuff, either because there's no use in making environmental sounds for asylum without a partially finished map. Like there's no use in Character Modeling now, because we have all the characters already. Same goes for effects, fonts, 2D design.
What about making an alternate skin for the Spy and Merc? You know. Just for shits and gigs. ;)

Well no wonder it's taking so long if you work like this. Sorry but my respect towards your hard working team just fall a level lower. Seriously when I was making map for scct I had a shape of all and then when one place was getting boring I was taking the other and after sometime I was coming back to the one I left.

You can always make:
A) Different designs for flashbangs/smoke/chaff
B) Different effects for the chaff explosion and the particles
C) DIfferent looking helmets
D)Different looking gas masks
E)Different types of suits
F)Different types of PCs/Bombs/Disks/Hack Panels/Dropzones

seriously you can make sounds at any stage of map making. It's not like you don't know what's gonna be in it :P. Effects - also a thing you canwork no matter what others does. Seriously frvge I know you have to defend the team but you a little selfowned yourself.
We are over 90% done. We don't have an immediate new thing to work on for many sections.
About the 90%, we made another new gametype in the past 3 days. It's even playable. We'll see if we're going to release a vid of it, but if you guys are acting like this, I guess we'll wait with the stuff till we're further with the real PS.

Frvge, it seems like you may have just opened up a whole new can of worms. 90% may have shut people up who are whining about progress, but 90% also sounds like it's very close to done. I foresee whining again in 2-3 months if it's not, with references to this thread.

The 90% was on the special build I guess. It's pretty far, but now that we had another special build, the earlier special build is kinda out of sight. Haha. So I guess we're going to use the current special build to work on some subsystems while art gets back to the main stuff, like Asylum. That's not for sure tho.
