Fucking hell, will they ever make something good for realistic stealth lovers? All they did good so far was AC series, and as far as I know brotherhood is really going down the hill...

What exactly did Ubisoft do to make the mod incompatible? Or did they sue the mod team?

I was done with UBI products after Conviction. There are many other devs out there who
treat gamers like people and not criminals and deserve my money.

I don't think ubi was concerned about this rainbow six mod training terrorists, especially when you consider Clancy no longer works with them.  ;O

The thing is that they acted like dickheads when they heard about PS, and now they are shutting down free mods of their games elsewhere.  Did you read what the mod is?  Just an upgrade of visuals, assets, effects, AI.  Not like they are making an anti-Ubi game like a KILLJADERAYMONDLAWLZ game, in fact they are doing them a favor by injecting interest in their brand name for FREE.

The shit they do makes even more pirates.  Get it?  I mean, I don't want to give them my money anymore after all this garbage.  I'm not about to go pirating around because I can rent games for consoles, but I can see why a PC gamer would.  Not to mention, the DRM shit they have now?

If you treat everyone like a piece of shit you might stop a few cases of piracy but you are going to cause the whole community to want to pirate.  The damage is probably worse.  Nobody wins.

its a good thing PS is using everything from scratch because if it weren't we would see the very end of it faster then what we expected :|

"what does the fanbase want?"

"A sequel to rainbow six vegas probably"

"okay, lets put a stop to that really popular mod that improves raven shield before we start our new game"

"I'll send the cease and decist notice"

UBI stopped being about gamers and just about money a long time ago. The company is run by
bean counters who have no clue about the industry, only the bottom line. They see something
that could "potentially" affect the stock price so they have a knee-jerk reaction and do something
like this. If the company was run by people who cared this kind of shit wouldn't happen.

Noone blames you, I did the same and I even bought the original for fun I guess, the problem is, quite a few ASSHOLES on this forum not naming who, truly play it and love it and enjoy it, but deny it to look cool....

Convictions isn't really a bad game. It just had the unfortunate situation of not being the game that people expected it to be. If it wasn't Splinter Cell... hell, if it just didn't star Sam Fisher, then it'd probably have been received better. The fact that is was, and it did, gave (what seems like) a majority of people a predisposition on what they thought they were about to consume. To which those same people went, "Hey... this isn't what I wanted".

It's still far from perfect, or a REALLY good game, but I played through the single player and wasn't entirely disappointed. Sure, I wish I could have used stealth more (without the gun), killed people non-lethally on a consistent basis, and move bodies... Irregardless to those points though, I can't deny that I had fun with it.

On Topic:

Yeah, it it pretty ridiculous that they stopped a Mod that was just being made to improve a game that has (probably) long been unplayed by a large amount of people. Not making a new title, not to make any sort of money, and not claiming to be anything other than an enhancement on the old. Simply work being done on a product that they haven't supported for years... for free.

I think his name was Beland, and you think he did a good job?  haha no way in hell

He made Sam a "panther" because he has an extreme fetish.

I really enjoyed Conviction on my first playthrough, and I loved making the full stealth videos despite having to do it in roundabout ways at many times. However now that I've finished it I have no reason to play it again. The multiplayer was boring, and the single player was way too linear and easy to be interesting.

Conviction, hmm...
Let me see if I can summarize it quickly.
- Coop it good
- Single player story is atrocious
- Gameplay has potential but lacked and/or failed most things
I still play occasionally, but something so linear get's really old really fast.

As far as the mod for R6 is concerned.
Well, when I found out about it a few weeks ago I was very disappointed .
Ah well, lucky I got to it before it was removed.

In my opinion, I would take Conviction like Swat but with a better look, if an agent would have to go into a building an gather intel on some guy by force, why the hell would he care who he would kill?

Has anyone thought of Infiltration in real life? Definitely not me, otherwise if we knew it, it wouldn't be an infiltration. So I think Conviction goes to something off, do the job and get out. If they don't know your face and will never track you because everyone is dead, hell good job.

If someone makes your game better, at a certain point it can be seen as stealing customers from any sequel you make.

That's probably why they shut it down.

It's probably cause the mod had "rainbow six" in the name.

If project stealth was called "splintercell versus 2.0" I bet the same thing would happen.

Exactly what I was going to say. Most likely they are working on a new Ravenshield (or a remake, if you must), and having a MOD call RS2.0 may cause confusion.

Fair points Monterto/lennard but I see mods with the name brand in the title, yet they don't get shut down.  If they are making a remake (which seems reasonable because they did that with PoP and SC), then I wonder if they feel threatened by the improvements made by these guys.  Makes it seem like the "remake" probably won't be worth it.

It makes me feel like they are doing these remakes less for fan service and more for cash.  They are a business but they have one of the worst reputations to their customers, aside from Activision.  I hope their disregard for fans comes back to bite them and I'm not usually one to wish bad on anyone.  I only hope this because it may cause them to change their ways.

well No the thing is though, ubisoft are nazi's period because prime example : Renegade X is remake essentially of Command and conqueor Renegade game, yet EA was cool with them doing it.

Ubi on the other hand , I remember the days when Mr.mic zed ,frvge were working on the unifed mapping project ( UMP) and they called up ubisoft to ask for the dimensions on how to properly place co-op / try to implement the window grab from double agent. Ubisoft declined.

Then you should be aware of the fact that Renegade X has written permission of EA to make that mod, right?

As well as, after Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge, every other Command and Conquer just failed miserably.

(Agent@, you are a hypocrite)

actually they were going to go ahead even if ea didn't give them the go ahead.
