You all know more about this then I do. I've had the 8800gt for a while now, but it's loud tiny fan is getting annoying. I have looked up some stuff here:

and was wondering about the zalman coolers, but wasn't sure. Essentially, I really want a good, QUIET, fan, that won't be ridiculously hard to put together.

HeyBlinkin I'm just curious how you know of Agent's reputation when you are so new to the forum. I think it's funny that one of your first posts displays great knowledge of the community, or just this one guy. Like his "reputation" precedes him or something. Funny stuff. I'm guessing you know of the current Dread/Agent feud and would like that out of your thread.
But Agent knows his stuff when it comes to hardware, and I think some people are proud of that apparently. Give him his due

I can bet Agent was a douche while Blinkin was playing a game that Martin boy didn't like :P But yeah, Knooger definitely is a great help when it comes to PCs, same as Lennard and MulleDK. But of course Knooger is more viable choice since he is online more.

Blinkin is by far not even new, you just haven't seen him because you were apart of the console scene way back when. Blinkin only posts when he wants something or is curious.
Blinkin and I have known one another for a long time , have had our history of rivalrys and have played together as a temporary team , back when there wasn't certain shmucks on this forum that I will not mention.

I also used to go to by HeyBlink05 before and if you look at your splinter cell chaos theory manuals, under the "dedicated servers" section, you will see my server there :D
As for agent, I'm just playing. I just can't believe he still plays chaos theory... lol

I was interested initially in the VF1000, because it seems built for the 8800gt. Plus, it would take up less space than the S1 w/ fan.
Unless the 8800 runs ridiculously hot, I doubt you can go wrong with the VF1000, it's basicly just plug 'n' play, the instructions are clear and it comes with the necessary heatsinks.
I myself have a VF900-CU which is a smaller scale version of the VF1000 on my HD4850, only thing I had to do myself was cut a piece of the old copper heatsink plate thing and insert it to the end of the card since the 8 heatsinks that came with it wasn't enough, it was a safer bet than not putting anything there, works like a charm and i'll replace it when I get around to buying more heatsinks (which has been over a year now).
You said you have HD 4850, is that 1 GB or 2GB? How is it so far for games? Are you able to play many of them on highest settings and out of curiosity, you wouldn't happen to have BFBC2?

It's one of the earliest models so 512MB, it's lasted on me for quite a while and it still goes strong. Can't really max out any of the newest games but you don't have to go all low either. BFBC2 I have running on high settings iirc and it runs great, and looks great. Still it's 2 generations old already so I'm expecting to replace it in the few next months.
I don't know these fans but just check some forums and see what 120mm people are recommending.
You can also try use that Accelero without fans it may work good ;] ( U have one fan at the back of case ? If nope then that might be a problem with passive accelero)

Zalman Flex is CPU cooling >.< BTW. I was running my PC today without any fans ( just graphic card and PSU ) max temp on CPU with passive flex was 68-70*C with OCCT Linpack (stock clocks + turbo enabled that mean about 20% overclocked)
So, If someone is searching good CPU passive cooling or cooling for CPU with a low RPM fan then get it :P

It's the same problem I had with my HD4850, just not enough heatsinks in the kit to also cool the power components. I just went downstairs, took the old heatsink the card had with me to the angle grinder, worked it for 5 mins and then placed it over the power components, perfect match.
If you do plan to buy, please do get the extra heatsinks, makes life that much easier.
From that what I heard zalman is not good, well headsinks are not a problem you can buy them and paste to the card with thermal pad or M3 Thermal Tape, even with double side tape ;)

So if I were to get the S1 and a 120mm fan, do I have to worry about additional heatsinks or whatnot? Also, I currently use rivatuner to automatically adjust fan speed in response to GPU temperature, will it be possible to have something like that set up with the fan that will be attached to the accelero?
Heatsinks are very cheap, you can use your accelero without them and add them if it will be needed.

You have to connect fan via 3 pin connector to your motherboard and then you can control speed of it or if you have basic soldering skills, you can make your own fan(s) controller.
So I settled on the VF1000 mainly because the accelero with fan simply wouldn't fit into my system. I was wondering why I can't simply use the 8 ram heatsinks included in the package as opposed to buying the additional enzotech heatsinks. Are they worse quality or do you think I'll need more than 8 heatsinks; I am not planning to overclock.
Most likely you'll be requiring more heatsinks, I think the ones Zalman supplies with the cooler work very well, it's just not enough to cool every component that requires it. I know my HD4850 would've required atleast 4 extra heatsinks.
Why you cannot use that heatsinks from VF1000?
If they fit all needed chips then just use them.

I guess I phrased that poorly. Of course you should use the ones that come with the VF1000, but be ready to buy some extra if the pack doesn't have enough sinks.
Alright, thanks a bunch for the help guys. I got the vf1000 and its been great, quiet, and temperatures never peak 50 degrees Celsius. Very satisfied, thanks for you input.
