Well its Obvious that each team needs its own special things so lets start with visions.
Both teams have night and heat vision
-Mercs should have sound vision when you use it every sound is multiplied so the merc can hear exactly where the spy is but the weakness is that if there is to much noise you are distracted by anything. i dont have a idea how should it look so you can suggest any thing
-Spies should have Double/Split vision when you use you are actuly transferd to First-person shooter with it you can view the entire area which you are in split to halth on the screen with you can see if someone is coming from the back or from the left or right. this vision can bee seen also with night and heat vision (or any vision) on both sides separately.
and now for each team specialties
Mercs:
-Mercs are more stronger then spies they can suffer more damage then them
-when two mercs are together they can walk back to back to cover each over (its actully a co-op action)
-mercs can fire nets from there grenade launcher or they can place mines that fire nets (i think someone alredy cam up with that)
-mercs can preform simple acrobtics like rolling and crouching
-when a spy uses to track a merc the merc can freeze his body for 10 seconds so the merc wont be able to find him
-mercs can stick to the wall when they are in a fire fight and they are transferd to third-person shooter mode
-mercs can have zooming option which they can view the entire area but they cant zoom to far distances
-mercs can fight hand-to-hand comabt if needed (take a very good example from F.E.A.R)
Spies:
-spies can hack into cameras which later they can view in opsat (or what ever you will name it)
-spies can have many co-op option like in CT Co-op
-spies can preform many acrobtrics (obviously...)
-spies and also mercs can shoot lights
-spies can zoom to far distances but cant have free view
-spies can place hidden lasers that detact where the merc is the laser can be viewed in heat vision

i don't think you played scct versus mode for more then 1 hour...
project stealth is meant to give the ct vets the game ubi was too lazy/dumb to deliver. so if you want to participate in the discussions here, you should play it at least for more than 10hours, and if you don't wanna talk shit and being taken seriously, you need 300h+ experience (versus is a quite complex concept) :-\
nevertheless, i think 2 of your ideas are funny: split view (360° view if i got it) and hacking into passive defenses.
on a serious note: i really hope the spy gets wide screen aspect ratio for a wider fov :D

This is simply impossible - the merc has too much eq and armor on - he can crouch already, btw

Niv, as stated before....we are sticking with the original CT game features. We will not introduce any radical changes from the original.
Due to resource constraints, we will not be able to introduce great deal of new animations....maybe a couple...but for every new animation there tends to be 4-5 required additional animations so that it integrates with everything.
well if it wouldnt be too trouble i think the net thing would be pretty cool...like fire a grenade that when it comes close to a spy it breaks open and the net comes out...and they struggle for a little bit until the merc finds him and pops his top
