Apparantely my friend just Facebook'd me and said it's absolutely shit, after so long they didn't have anything good in the graphics and nothing really spectacular from DX11 in their game.
But as a worker at Sony,(He is now in LA, just recently been to GCD Cologne convention show)
and from what he heard it will still sell tons of copies due to the fans wanting to play it badly.
What's your opinion?
To me, the game is a total fail, buy it, play it, pass it on.
If you're expecting a grade school joke experience of a game, then I think you'll be pleased.
If you're expecting that "A DECADE IN THE MAKING" means that it's going to be the equivalent of Jesus in video game form... then you probably never played Duke Nukem before.
This game is for the LOLz in my eyes. If they have that "Good Level Design" that Duke Nukem 3D had (don't remember, I was like 8 at the time), then that's the icing on the cake. By now though it seems to be that game you're just going to buy because even though it's probably going to be really bad, the story surrounding it's development makes it a GEM. Owning it is like being a participant in the joke. Proof that you committed to it all the way.
Like owning a copy of the movies "Evil Dead" 1 & 2, when the only one people seem to really care about is "Army of Darkness".
so the game is a failure because the graphics aren't good enough.
but people should still buy and play it.
yeah that totally makes sense
No but I like the cheesyness, I totally dig it, but if the environment and the characters would be more developed and a lot more interesting I would definitely buy it, hell I love the "Koochy-koo" and the "Piss in the toilet" thing that's brilliant, a lot more games need to do that.
(Fallout: Vegas allowed you to drink from the toilet, that was a bit....eerrgh)
But if they changed Duke's suit to something more spectacular, something more powerfull and badass, yeah that would be so much better. Allow the original suit to be like an unlockable.
Star Wars: Force Unleashed II, I play it because of destruction and I love pounding stormtroopers endlessly, but the point is that in the trailer, Starkiller had the Arena gear suit that I loved, and hell they allowed it to be unlocked, and guess what? It looks great with blue lightsabers.
More development, change the armor, keep the hair and the shades cause that's like his trademark, but change everything else.

Go play postal. I don't know how for you but for me pissing in the toilet is kind of normal thing, so I don't see anything cool in it, brits don't use toilets?
Fucking hell that's just a game and it fits into Post-Apocalyptical theme of game.
I'm gonna at least try this game for Duke's quotes ;)
Knooger can you ever read? Or even think?
How many games have characters that they unzip their pants and do the piss noise? Most of them or even 99% of them are just flush sounds, and Fallout just let's you drink from it...
And what's amazing in it? What's amazing in thing that you do everyday.
Because it's unique? Because not many games have that? Because it enhances realism?

There's a reason action heroes never need to use the toilet.

Not sure what you're getting at here bro.

I don't think Duke Nukem is for you. Mainly because you have no clue why or what is supposed to be the point and/or humor of the game.
Next I'm going to hear something like, "The shrink gun shouldn't shrink enemies down so much. It makes it unfair. You think after so much time in development they could get balance right."
Hopefully those points you have about pissing were jokes...
Uhhmmm, the humour ok maybe...
But the thing is, it's either the game graphics really suck, or I am missing the art style...if there is...
The concept of the character and all his moves are special, that's what cool about him. Pissing in the toilet is just 1 fun feature.
the force unleashed games were terrible, the fact that you hold them up to high standards makes your opinion void.
Anyway 10 years in development doesn't mean 10 years of development time, the thing went through several engine switches, team changes and complete restarts. The game actually being released was probably only worked on for a few years. Even If DNF is just Duke Nukem 3d with shiny new graphics, I'm going to fucking love it. I'm tired of all these depressing realistic shooters, I want fun back in my games.

I don't hold it high, I only love it because of the destruction and you can pummel the stormtroopers in many different ways, which is what I enjoy, the game itself I would give 4.5/10 to the first one and 3.5/10 to the second one.
For fun in shooters, I recommend Bulletstorm. I liked that one. :)

That game, while I'm not denying is fun, gave the biggest, "We've waited 10 years now. We're going to make a Duke Nukem game since Forever is probably not going to come out". Then Forever's release date was announced like right as Bulletstorm hit the shelves.
Mainly it's just the Kick that gave me that Duke Nukem thought.
Here is a comic about Bulletstorm just because:

I lol'd cronky.
Dread I hope you aren't taking Duke Nukem seriously. It's a mindless romp, and should not be judged. It has transcended the curse of being judged like any other game, it's like the Muhammad of video games.
Eeehhh....
Seriosuly as in? The only game I think I ever took seriously is probably StarCraft II or World of Warcraft, other games I don't know if it's possible to take it seriously ><
I meant that it doesn't take itself seriously. No one should be hyped about it. I don't see how anyone can think it will be a AAA game. The game's purpose is having no purpose. And if there was one thing that absolutely does not matter when it comes to Duke Nukem, it's probably graphics. The game has basically always been a parody. Your friend sounds like he would be mad if Scary Movie 2 took 10 years to come out and had sub-par visuals. That's how dumb your friend seems to me.
Except I doubt that they intended that...
I'm pretty sure they intended that...

Watch the trailer over. Gawk at how serious it sounds at the beginning, then takes a turn for the funnier side of things. The reason he's fighting, the nudity, the bathroom jokes, punching an alien in the "jewels", all that leads up to the final joke where it makes fun of itself and it's long development time.
Like Farley said, Duke Nukem Forever isn't meant to be taken seriously. I know that because that was the most serious trailer I could find. All the other ones are just focusing on the Nudity (or just Girls), or the Bathroom jokes (you can throw a piece of poop).
...The Multiplayer doesn't have Capture the Flag, it's Capture the Babe. There was controversy surrounding it because you are essentially kidnapping a girl, and when she flips out too much you have to smack her ass.
^word
My guess is that it is worth the wait if you know what you are waiting for.
OMG, is the multiplayer going to be like that oO I AM SO BUYING IT XD
He has seen the light! The great and almighty Lord Nukem has shown him the righteous path!!!
GLORY HALLELUJAH!!!
Well this game looks like shit. Half the demo is just walking around triggering scripted event cutscenes, and the rest is just linear walking in a line with boring as hell looking fights. Just pop out and shoot dudes then duck back behind cover and regen. Enemies are just wastes of time, you're always gonna be capable of killing them since you recharge back to 100% between fights, and they can't do any lasting damage to you either beyond killing you, in which case you just load and try again.
Add in shit puzzles (push cart and then get in cart is boring. Making the player push cart then get in cart and then immediately afterwards push another cart and get in the cart is just fucking dumb. Even if it was fun the first time, there's no point repeating it. Filler shit.)/TAP BUTTON FAST TO WIN/only two guns just because/NPCs with awful dialogue which they keeeep repeeeeating and you've got a bad game.
and i mean i've watched a video of the demo on youtube so i'm a fucking expert.
What are the chances that they took the two crappiest parts of the game and put them as the demo? That would make SOME sense. Perhaps even be a little comical because of peoples rationalized expectations...
...right?
AI, Weapon management, sounds, and generally every game mechanic being from a Alpha build of the game?
It's GOTTA be possible...
...I'm still interested in playing it...
Eehhh, I might get it, I nearly pissed myself laughing on the demo when Duke picks up poop and starts throwing it, but the character starts saying:
No, no! What the hell!? That's disgusting!
And the 2 idiotic soldiers drawing on a board, that's just precious xD

The fuck? That isn't entertaining or funny or interesting at all. It's not even a parody like most of the jokes in the old Duke games, it's just playing with shit. You'd seriously buy a game because it lets you play with shit? What the fuck, man.
You mad bro?
IT'S F*CKING UNIQUE!
I'm going to make a recording of my very first time playing it, going to draw your avatar with your name on it on the board, and start flicking poop at your face just to prove a point of how much fun that is in Duke Nukem :P
Are you eight? Because you seriously shouldn't find throwing shit funny unless you're a small child. Or a chimp, I guess.
ps if you were to cut your balls off then that'd be a pretty unique experience so maybe you should try that

Yeah, I would find it even more funny if I would get to see you in real life and throw it in your face for being absolute bullshit on every one of my threads -.-

This thread boiled down to just a lot of bickering. It might be funny to read at times, but the topic seems have been talked to it's extent.
I'm locking it down.
PM me if you have any problems with this decision.
