Alrighty then... My question is are we gonna have a few voices or spy/merc voices added? In CT spies sometimes made this " aagh " sound when they were shot, and I believe that mercs did as well. I think both teams let out a little squeal when they fell a good distance. Will this be added into PS? I personally think it should. Another question is will we have a voiceover like DA's that says " Red Terminal IS HAXORS "? Hopefully not, that stupid voice during the loading screens telling you how to do the basic crap was extremely annoying.
Another interesting idea that I have been thinking about, is giving the mercs or spies the ability to hear loud spies or mercs through their TV. I mean if a someone on spy team starts yelling, the merc should be able to hear it over the speakers coming from where they said it. Someone would have to say something loud enough for it to break the Spy/Merc voice channels. This would add some realism as well to it ( although this game is not about realism I know ) That is one thing that really annoyed me in CT, some guy would totally be yelling his brains out right behind a merc, and he wouldn't know he was there.
This would keep little kids from yelling over the mic or singing stupid songs, instead of keeping it down. Say a spy is creeping up on a merc, the spy starts yelling " OMG I GOT THIS GUY HE IS SOOO PWNED!!!11!!" The merc would hear the sound coming from his speakers and turn around and see the guy behind him. This would teach those annoying yellers from yelling so loud over the microphone. I personally think that this would be fun and problem solving. Of course this would be an option to turn on and off.
Think about if you were totally screwing with a merc, you could say " HEY JACKASS! I am right behind you" And then you hide and keep messing with him lol... This should also go for mercs as well. This is different than tutor mode...
What do you all think about this?
Something like the NPC's hear your voice in CT's coop?
I mean that it wouldn't break any communications - the merc would just hear the spy talking :P
the idea sounds interesting, but i don't think it'll be good for the gameplay or the social life XD
Agreed. The number of phone conversations with girlfriends I've listened to and have held my self are numerous. It's bad enough to get a phone call while your playing and distract you. Now the phone could warn the mercs too. That however, would be extremely funny.
If that was enabled, i'd pretend I didn't have a mic, follow the guy around and then scream "Kill that Merc!".
Make it an option in the host's menu. I want it. I want it badly. It would be so tense to be just behind the merc with your partner and cannot communicate. Or some ppl that scream while playing. They would get owned just like that.
Yeah! I really wanted that in Chaos theory. Imagine being in a merc and hearing some voice "OMGZERS! He totally cannot see me in this airvent" lol.
While it would be cool, it is easily circumvented by xfire.
while i use xfire to talk ingame, i like very much the built in voice system (you cant talk while dead etc), and the whole voiceover thing would add some realism to the play. Also the spies could easily fool the mercs, or even sneak past them if they could hear them.
And btw - how some of you guys hear a spy going crouched in the vents?

By using our ears instead of crosshair sound detector. You can hear other stuff too, like a spy pulling out his gun to scan with HB, camo going on and off and the like. I've even been told some mercs can hear a spy switching visions if they are close enough. Luckily snares help against mercs with über sound systems.
it's not uba sound systems, it's just the buggy eax and loud volumes
EAX.

EAX.
Err... okay, and how can i turn it on on a non-supported sound card?
I know that eax is cheating, but while everyone usees it, i can't, and i don't know why.
Can it be because of my AC'97 on-board sound chip?
Wait, did you just ask how to turn it on, on an un-supported video card?
sound card Day, sound card. xD
To enable it on an unsupported sound card, you do the same you would do to run Crysis on a Pentium 3 500mhz.
Damnit.
Still, that's like saying how do I turn on 3.0 shaders on my MMX400 Geoforce card.
Guess there are emulators or something?
Are you fucking retarded?
QuoteGuess there are emulators or something?
Yes, like that emulator that made a CD driver read a floppy.
No.
I dunno, The Wine thing made my Suse run windows programs, and there are some progs that emulate shaders etc for games to play on crappier hardware so i thought that there may be something like that for sound.
LOL almost all of your credit for anything has just flown out the window. Although I congratulate you on making my day!
Yeah guys, I mean like on CT coop for whoever said that. The voice has to be loud enough for it to be heard, not on the merc's mic, but on their speakers. This is like when you hear a spy fall behind you, but instead they are talking, and it is like a sound that gives spy's position away. It also allows the merc's to know what you are planning if you say it loud enough.
Say you are playing on aquarius. One spy is in tech and he is hiding above. He sees to mercs come in and he tells the other spy to go hack pirate's room terminal. If he says this loud enough than the mercs will be warned and if they are smart they will go defend pirate's room.
This would also be useful for giving false information. Say, over the mic you yell " GO HACK PIRATES! ", but in text chat you would tell them to go hack Greek Temple. Something like that, anything to get the merc's to think you are going somewhere you aren't.
Also this could be useful for warning camping or glitching opponents. What if a merc was camping on the rail or in a corner? You would have no way to tell him to stop doing this unless you had this kind of feature in it. You could get close to the camper or glitcher, then yell " HEY IDIOT! STOP GLITCHING OR IMMA BOOT YOU!!! " In fact this could be really really useful actually.
omg... say i hide in some dark corner and i hear the merc scream at me "Come out you lil son-o'-a..."
i'd have a heart-attack. I already start to panic when my m8 asks me what im doing... -.-
You see this is why I would like this feature. If it is toggle able then it would be perfect. It is useful, fun, and adds suspense and realism.

What credit? His name translates, for me at least, into cock fan, so he didn't have much credit for the name.

LOL!!!
I was playing CT last night with some people. This dude from england had the name Bobbteld.Dick . LOL I was like....uh?? And he was harassing other players on the server for likening men.
OK. Ion don't take it too far. Kok4f4n is cool :D Just.. clueless.

Then someone tell me what the hell his name is? How do you pronounce that?
cock a fan
No comment.
Yet it still is teh most original of all nicknames i evar saw ^^
So is your personal quote message thing. Oh, wait, nope, nevermind, got it from tv.
Cock a Fan. Wow, damn, I don't care how original it is, you are going to be made fun of from me anytime you say anything I don't agree with now.
Homophobe. I bet money your American :D
I have nothing against gay people. I have something against someone with a name like cock fan. Naming yourself cock fan is like naming your daughter tit raper.
It was from Coca Cola originally, wich is spelled koka kola, and it stayed that way.

You made 0 sense there. None. Zippo. The absence of sense is present.
The idea is kinda cool, but wouldn't fit the gameplay. Furthermore, almost everyone will bypass it by using TS or Ventrillo.
Just imagine that in the year 2010 or whenever PS takes place, they invented sound-proof spy masks, so the only way to hear communications is to hack them via spy traps.
I want it as a togglable option anyways though.

Even though:
1. It isn't going to be the right theme
2. Everyone is going to use Teamspeak
3. Me and Gui will sing the whole time, so you are going to quit
Yeah, so watch out. Me and Gui aren't very good either.
So just force the voicechat to be on if the voicething is enabled.
Dude, I bet we can make you go deaf singing "Goodness gracious great balls of fire". I doubt a merc ever hacks our communications for more than 10 seconds.
Bet i can survive till the SpyTrap wears out ;D
I'll take that bet. I will contact you, when me and gui are ready.
that's the dumbest bet ever. There's no way you could prove you listended to the entire conversation and there's no way to prove he didn't no listen to it.
Yeah, that's why i got into that one.

Not true, you could just type a message to everybody and tell him to quit glitching.
As for this idea, I could see it being fun to have, but difficult and implement and not really worth it as again, most people use Skype/XFire/TS/Vent/Soup-cans.

Look at Coca Cola's history and it will make perfect sense. Not only was cocaine an ingredient in Coca Cola, but the name was spelled with K's. Obviously this fellow likes Coca Cola.
Thx B1nary, at least you unserstand :D
In fact i like the Cocaine version more :P
Besides askings for buttsechs on SClamers, and then not telling me how to pronounce your name, what am I supposed to do?
Daybreak: I don't care if he listens or not. I just like to sing with gui, cause we suck so much. I wasn't going to prove anything.
Binary: I don't ever remember coke being spelled with a K. Either way, I am just kicken his balls.
Ion I'm pretty sure coke has been around much much longer than you have. It's quite alot older than most people think, in fact I thought it was around near the end of the Victorian period ???
You're talking about some sort of real-time speaking system that would allow anyone in a determined radius (depending on the intensity/frequency of the sound) to hear any sound recorder through a microphone? In other words, if someone screams the crap out of them, anyone would hear them? It would be awesome! I've been thinking of it since I first played SCPT multi...
Ummm, that was a big bump lol :D
But yeah I think that would be cool, hence the reason I posted it. ;D
