Title: Grabbing/Bashing
Post by: YaYz0r on September 02, 2007, 12:33:15 PM
Hey,
I'm so tired of bashing people when I want to grab them. Therefore: please DO NOT bind the grab and bash move to the same button. It works out great in DA, and it's one of the few things I really like with that game. So please, PS. Don't go back to old grab/bash style!  8)

Haven't been able to find a topic about that. So, is it something you're gonna add to the mod? - or will you keep it the old way?

Iam fairly cerrtain that the elbow hit and the grab (or use and berserk for merc)  will be on different keys.

While we're at it, lets put waking up partner and berserk on different keys too. It's not for me because I know better, I just don't want my partner to kill me.

frvge already mentioned that

I'd actually rather have them on the same key.

The whole "spy standing there like an idiot" after a merc charges a wall isn't lag related. It occurs on lan, too. It happens because the merc's hitboxes go all out of whack.

I'd much rather elbow the merc so that I have a chance to get away when I miss a grab, rather than have my spy stand there and do nothing.

Yea, so would I. Consindering that most of the times I have to play on servers with pings that are bigger than 200+, I'd rather go for a neck and end up elbowing the merc than bash my grab key and realize it did nothing and I just died.

When it has happened 300 times, it gets _very_ annoying  ::)

Let me tell you this...

All of you can get as you want it!!!
You can change all keybindings in PS, meaning that you could just change the ini file..

for example, you could change the bindings in the PlayerInput.ini

QuoteBindings=(Name="LeftShift",Command="GrabMerc")
Bindings=(Name="LeftControl",Command="ElbowHit")

So... you use Left Shift and Left Control for the two moves... You don't like it with 2 keys? You change it!

QuoteBindings=(Name="LeftShift",Command="GrabMerc")
Bindings=(Name="LeftShift",Command="ElbowHit")

Now it's as in Versus!

Note: The bindings you see above does not exist in PS, yet :P
And they will most likely be changeable from one of the menus too! :)

UT has pretty good keybinding options i don't think it'll be a problem

Depends on how we programme it :)

If we make it one function, like GrabBash, you will not be able to :P
But that would make it harder for me, and other programmers :/

Don't worry about it!

Just make sure the grab is checked for first o.O

This would of course cause trouble if you attached for example H to both roll and jump.. lol.... I could just imagine :P

Another option...probably the preferable one is this:

1 key: grab-punch  just like CT (grab if possible, punch otherwise)
2 key:  grab only

Yeah I like that one.
