Our Animator needs video referance of the spy in motion.
Please post any existing links of CT or DA vids for him.
Also, if you guys want to help him out, we need vids of spy doing all animations from multiple angles (front and side)
Thanx for your help.
DA sliding Escape Move Animation ( All Angles ) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiWio_ZlGn8 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiWio_ZlGn8)
DA Swinging Onto Roof Animation ( All Angles, We NEED THIS MOVE!!! ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bE35ZAN64qw (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bE35ZAN64qw)
A Bunch Of DA spy Movement ( IMO spy movement is better in DA ) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9_DreB5AjM (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9_DreB5AjM)
A Chaos Theory Spy Vid ( This might not help much ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zsq4NCpCwso (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zsq4NCpCwso)
Hope I found what you were looking for with the first 3 vids atleast! ;D
Just out of personal curiosity, are there any DA music video things?
lol
why DA??

I actually think the spy walking movements and animations were best from Pandora Tomorrow. Double Agent's animations are just CT's animations but sped up beyond what is humanly possible.

Guys, the animators need something you can actually "trace".
?
ie. a action which can be copied easily (using only one camera angle and no rotation)
...I think.
Why would they only want one angle? One angle at a time? I like the movement of DA spy such as: escape moves, crawling low hanging vents, animations. I like the movement of PT such as: walking, being stationary while crouched, climbing, running. I hated the speed of DA, it's like all spies were drinking mountain dew during the mission debriefing lol. But, I just posted those vids to give the animators ideas and a general understanding of the escape moves I want in.
Sorry for double post, it wouldn't let me edit.
Who the hell has vids of spy animations from one angle that the animators can trace anyways ??????
i don't think there are such vids, so i guess some1 has to record animations from different static angles so that the animators can transfer it step by step.
Vid with most Spy animations has been done by me. However, the more, the better.
The technique is called rotoscoping -been used since the times of Disney.
Our animator doesnt play a lot of CT so inspiration of gameplay would help. If he chooses to copy frame by frame its up to him.
he doesnt play ct but is in the team? ??? :o

That's no bueno right there. Granted I'm sure his experience level is high, but I still think he should be exposed to SCCT or even SCDA just to see the gameplay. Unless of course you're holding his hand all the way through.
why?
I don't think it's a big deal. Technically, all he's going to do is make the spy look good while moving. You don't really need to know the game is played, just how such a character moves. To be honest, he could use any type of video, except he wants to use CT and DA footage for help. Sounds good to me.
We could give him videos of ninja's if we wanted a ninja feel. Maybe that's where we can get some animations for flips or the wall flip and such.
Just cause he doesn't play doesn't mean it's not good. It actually means that what he'll produce will be unique but similar enough to the what we are used to. I think it's the best of both worlds.
Now then, if the spy comes out walking around like the hunch back of Notre Dame, then we might have a problem. Although, that could be his slow walk.
I dont play any of the games i make...and in the last 10 years thats around 12.
That fact is all to common in the games industry -people just dont have the time to spend playing games.
Also, its not a requirement to have CT game experience to animate for us.
I never said it was a requirement. I still feel kind of iffy about it. I understand that most you programmers and animation artists don't have the time to play the games. There are other underlying issues, but they probably don't matter. Just making sure that this game is going to be real sick you know? I also don't program or make video games for a living, so you have to cut me some slack. Only reason I'm here is because I play CT a hell of a lot and I want Project Stealth to be sick nasty. So, I thought it was kind of odd he never played the games, but if you say it isn't really a big deal then I trust your opinion. Better to trust the opinion of someone with experience than someone with absolutely no experience at making games. Just throwing out opinions you know? Twas just a concern. Proceed....
It's better if they have CT experience, that way they know what the spies movement is like and they know it like the back of their hand. That way they don't need vids to "trace" anyways.

I'm just glad we have animators in the first place. Animation and graphics is one of the toughest parts of the project, and probably the most time consuming, short of maybe creating custom maps.
Playing experience really has no relevance to animation skill. Please understand that we do not have a list of people to pick and choose from and therefore have to accept what we can get. Our animator is working on his own Mod as well, and the agreement is that he will animate our characters and I will model his characters for his mod. Project Stealth does not have financial support, but several Dev members are investing a lot to get this project done.
All of you really need to understand that, and need to be forgiving because of that. We are by no means a professional studio that can pay for talent.
And think about it from there, how many 3rd person and 1st person games out there have run and walk animations, reload animations, jump animations, death animations, or crouch animations. The answer is ALL of them, so no need to think CT is something special in this regards.
And finally, have faith that this is not going to be a super mario game.
WTF!!! No hard jump?!
I'm out.
Yeah, but not a lot of other games have splinter cell's spy movement style. Smooth, quick, stealthy. Not a lot of other games have neck snapping, pulling off railings, hanging from a pole with your gun drawed, split jumps, etc. Personally, I would rather have animators w/ CT background if it's possible. It's just that they should be really familiar with those animations and the style of the imo. If not, then that's fine, I still have faith in you guys.
The guy is an awesome animator, I'm sure he'll have no problem making them look as good as possible.

Aw man, I was hoping you would have SS+DJ in there! ;D
we could give ss+dj to the death match players ;D
Wait deathmatch? Is there gonna be a deathmatch mode or was that a joke?
We still need the merc animations, can someone record all of the merc animations?
Can I record through fraps, also how do I convert if need be? Where can I place the video when its done? I'm a noob when it comes to video production/design, but I can do all the things necessary. I have all the tools, just need a little guidance. I also think it would be a good learning experience. When do you want it? ASAP?
fraps does a good enough job.
there are a host of file hosters.....i believe most of the SC community uses fileshack, yousendit, or youtube

I don't? ::)
Oh, and for the people complaining you need to have CT experience... When I joined this team, I only played like 5 minutes, then I got noobed out. Now, I have some more since I can actually play with the team now, not that I do it much.

This is what I understood according to what was posted prior to the statement.
that was about other games. Most programmers and modellers are sick of the game (because of the many hours they worked on it) and just drop it and go on without playing it. I, on the other hand, am not like that.
Anyway, that's not really an answer. Just keep in mind I'm just a young guy who also has a private life and not only works on projects.
= AKA =
When I don't have time for gaming, I make it xD
I seriously recommend Enemy Territory Quake Wars btw :P
