Title: Programmer
Post by: MulleDK19 on November 15, 2006, 07:56:09 PM
Hi... I really like the sound of this project and I want to join the team if possible... I have some experience with programming (Visual Basic, ASP, C/C++, etc. etc.)

My recent project is Ragdoll Fighters (made in game maker - about 25% drag&drop, the rest is scripting) http://www.rf.treesoft.dk (http://www.rf.treesoft.dk) < go to the download section and download the game.

I would really like to be part of this project, 'cause I LOVE Versus (Except DA... It sux...)

Thanks in advance!

That's the proper attitude. :D

Here's the standard message that I post below every sollicitation.
Thanks for the offer. Check the site to stay up to date. When enough people have signed up, we're going to assemble the actual team. In the meantime you can chat in the public discussion about the game. Don't forget to spread the word. We still need more developers, especially programmers.

Any engine yet?

Or will we have to build one up from scratch??

Wait for the team to be assembled first.

It's probably going to be an open source engine like Ogre but it all depends on the programmers team.

Okay. Do you have any idea of how long the "cloning"-part is going to take, and will the first version be released when the cloning is done?

Thanks in advance :-D

PS: Just to let you know which tools I've been working with...
Visual Basic 5/6
Visual C++ 6
Visual Fox Pro 6
Delphi
3D Game Studio A6
UnrealEd (UT, SC PT/CT)
FarCry Sandbox :P
Return to Castle Wolfenstein (some scripting, map editing)
3D Studio Max R2, 4.2, 5.1 and 8.
Robolab (LOL - Lego Mindstorm drag & drop programming :P)
NQC (Not Quite C - For programming Lego Mindstorm based on text)
Game Maker 5/6 (started with drag & drop, but know I mostly use the scripting feature)
F.E.A.R. SDK (Level editing)
Worldcraft (Counter-Strike level editing)
Operation Flashpoint (map editing, scripting, voice-acting (lol :P)) (UPDATE: ADDED)

And I think there is some more, but I don't really remember right now :P

Thanks. I'm using a lot of time on programming different kind of programs, etc. etc.
And I LOVE Versus. I just hate all the bugs! :/

So I would appreciate to be part of this project! :-D

That's a fine list you've got there but it's your work that gets you on the team, not your software. :D Ragdoll fighters are cool but it's been done (http://www.ragdollsoft.com/ragdollmasters/) and it's been done better (http://www.ragdollkungfu.com/) too. No offence, it's some great work and it could get you a spot depending on the others, but if you've got more work to show than I'd love to see that too.

Ragdoll Masters (Shareware)
Ragdoll Kung Fu (Shareware)
Ragdoll Fighters (Freeware - And a lot of people thinks RF is a lot more fun than any of those two :O)

:P hehe, nvm!

Anyway I'll try to find some of my other work :O

(Does it have to be games?? Or is it okay with programs too?)

Anything that shows what you can do.

I made the interface for my webbrowser... The only thing I didn't make was the Browser Control (Microsoft Internet Controls). So I made the bookmark-list, word-filter, etc. etc.. Made everything except the main browser object!

http://www.treesoft.dk/wl70 (http://www.treesoft.dk/wl70)
Oh... Made the website myself too... (Also the one for Ragdoll Fighters)

Btw. I've worked with Photoshop and Premiere too :P

Post by: ElShotte on November 19, 2006, 04:44:02 AM
Haha... nice. I've worked with Cienema 4D R8, Maya 4-8, 3DS Max 5-8, Lightwave, Milkshape 3D, Photoshop, Illustrator, GoLive, Premiere, UnrealED, GTRadiant, Turbo Delphi Explorer, Visual C++ 2005.

The question is:

What am I proffecient in?

Maya (Any/All Versions), Photoshop, UnrealED, GoLive. Sure I know basic Delphi and C++, but I am nowhere near good with it.

And the next question is:

What are you proffecient in?

I have a lot of experience with Visual Basic.
And Visual C++

And I have some pretty nice UnrealED skills :P
And I've also animated some things in 3D Studio Max 5.1 SP1 for Max Payne 2. (plus scripting)

:/

I can't play proper because of lag... And I can't change settings in options menu!

I go to Options > Display > Choose Standard instead of Next-Gen... Apply, save and return to game... No difference, and when I go back to the Options menu it has been put back to Next-Gen! Freaking me out! :O

MulleDK13 sounds like the first programmer that knows his stuff. I'm a little confused with the hesitation of him helping us. While he's experience may be limited, as far as i know he's the only programmer that's posted that is interested. Last post was in November, and followed up again in June. If that doesn't show he's interested I don't know what does.

uh....I didn't think we had a programmer at all... I really don't know. It's not like the positions are posted.
I'm just saying it sounds like we gave him the runaround in november. Maybe it was too early then. Maybe it's still too early but think we should get him involved. That's all I'm saying.
