Title: New move (sorta)
Post by: Spekkio on December 24, 2007, 05:31:17 PM
The half split jump.

Probably should animate that into the game, so that you aren't constricted to using split jumps at locations that are the width of the spy's legs.

What's a half split jump?

Do you mean he can split jump in narrower corridors or wider corridors or what?

Yeah, that would be awesome on Squat.
Narrower corridors - most of the mass is close to one wall, while one leg counters the other... hard to explain.

Yea. Instead of doing a full split, one leg is extended while the spy uses his other knee against the wall.

He should be able to climb up slowly as well.

I guess it would be ok. Though I find that for the most part, corridors tend to be too wide, not too narrow. So really, I'm not sure how helpful a narrow split jump would be. There are a few places here and there that I could see it being used, but not many.

Too narrow is sucky for running around and passing eachother. But maybe it's ok for the not-much-used passage ways.

I certainly hope the maps aren't full of corridors that narrow. If you get caught in one you're trapped. A better way to make split jumps more useful would be to have more areas that it can be used in.

UT 3 has certain physics that might allow for different width corridors for the split jump.

Iservalot....you think the leg physics would work on this?

That would be awesome!  I would like to climb also.

It would be nice...

A chimney climb move (up and down) would be a nice plus for the game.

narrow corridors can be a good gameplay element. i don't think that it should always be possible to ss the merc and run away right past him.

Yeah, the maps should be designed so that spies have to break hacking at least at one objective.
Flawless hacking = bad map design OR n00b opponents.

Yeah, if you are stuck in a narrow corridor with a merc he can pretty much never miss the charge.  It would be awesome to be able to split jump over his head while he is charging for you.  Do you think split jump should have it's own button?  Like instead of the jump button there would be a special moves button (like split jump)

I think there is a risk that this will over-power the spies. Charging a good spy is hard as it is.

You to see so I didn't missunderstod you totaly. Do you mean SORT of like wall jumps in quake?

with correct precesion, if you hit it off , using the split jump in intense situations does reallly help, but also your hearts beating soo fast and its llike zomgz.. hope he didnt see me

2. Split jump needs to be a 1 jump animation.. not this double crap.. im sure that will be implemented already due to the nature of this team being players em selves.
