Title: plz help with multi-material static meshes in UT3 Editor
Post by: ray mysertio on January 04, 2008, 08:44:02 PM
i have a building i am trying to add to calibrate the dimensions of the player and also to get a feel of how it will look/feel/make the player react , etc.

i have 3 textures all with their respective material channels 1,2,and3 in 3ds max . but when i import i see no way of assigning the materials , and in uned3 if the textures were already imported it would "self-apply" them to the mesh .

and tips or links on how to import a static mesh and assign custom materials and/or textures , since there was no explaination on the 3dbuzz bonus dvd from ut3 ?

So far as I know UE3 only supports 2 channels and I think you would be better off breaking the mesh into 3 pieces each with its' own texture. I'm sure there may be a better way to do it, but if you want a quick solution just break the mesh into multiple pieces.
