i dont know if this is a stupid idea or not. but does anyone feel, that its a stupid thing to do when you have been knocked down to the ground by a merc, is to stand upright and paint a target on your head. if i just got hit on the head im no way going to get up and stand up, it should be crouched down and roll away it takes too much time to wake up and stand up by that time the merc has sniped you in the head
^agree.
Some kind of system which allows you to move as your getting up should be implemented.
Sounds ok, but it's a nice-to-have.
You'll die anyway, so what's your problem?

Depends what's happening to the merc at the time. Like if the merc is getting smoked/chaffed/flashed by your partner, it's going to be hard for him to hit a target even if it's moving slowly. I say yes to this idea.
Its just like in GOW. One of my friends, being the addict he is, memorised the spot where the players head would be after the rise from an execution position to get a headshot each time.
I used to do that all the time, you know, before GoW got really stupid. I'd want to be able to crawl while I am downed in that game, wouldn't you? I might want to be able to slowly crawl when I'm down in this game too.
Sry, but I didnt understand Bear's post..Its because im tired or it is written in bad english. Could someone write whats the main idea ?
He is suggesting that spies can move a little bit while they are getting up. That way they don't just stand straight up everytime. I mean that spies are able to wobble in a direction as soon as they are starting to get up. They can control their spy, but it's limited control. Like no gadgets but you can slowly move.
ah ok, I was misled by the last sentence with "sniping".
Ive got nothing against this. Perhaps the screen could also shake (like you were drunk) for a short time
Sounds interesting, but I doubt it's really useful. A spy is pretty much dead if he is knocked down by a Merc unless the Spy's partner comes in to help, which will probably be the only way the knocked down spy will survive so I don't think any fancy moves are really needed for a knocked down spy.
Well, moving slowly and wobbling isn't so fancy.
Well, let me rephrase that. I meant to say any evasive moves are not needed for a knocked down spy because I doubt it's going to save his butt since the Merc's more than likely standing right next to the downed spy. The only real way for the knocked down Spy to survive is for his partner to go take on the Merc that's about to riddle his gluteus maximus with bullets at point blank range. The only possible scenario I can see this evasive move work is like this...
A spy gets knocked down but before the Merc finishes him off, the spy's partner comes in to save the day. But, the other Merc who's on the other side of map takes aim with his rifle to finish what his buddy couldn't. Now maybe rolling side ways, flip up, speedy evasive maneuver might save the spy from getting sniped.
Rolling sideways sounds good enough for me.
Well exactly youth. That's the only way you'd be saved anyways. You have to have your partner save you regardless of whether you can move while standing up or not. Right now, you can just remember where the spy was downed, then fire through the smoke cloud and kill him. If the spy could move a little bit then there is a bigger chance the merc won't be able to shoot him.
Probably takes too much time to animate. But it's nice otherwise.
Sounds like a needless aggro buff. It's hard enough to bash one in aggro (without being screwed), don't make it harder to kill too.
I can't even imagine what that would look like. "spy is able to move while getting up"? whaaaaa???
He's sort of stumbling over his feet and getting up slowly, but not standing straight up. Or you could make him able to roll sideways or something...
Personally I think it's fine as it is, aslong as he gets up a bit faster, with a bit more urgency.
the animation for getting up pretty sucks in ct, but i'm sure our animator can do this way better.
it could look better if the spy is getting up a little bit sooner, but his first steps are slow and he has problems to find his balance.

Thats because he's old and might throw his back out...lol
just do whatever direction your holding thats the way you'll roll to get up, or hold nothing and you'll get up normal.
becuse i hated being stuck getting up right when the merc sees me again.
heh... what about pre-dead fight?
I'm not a pro in Eng but I'll try to explain. While spy is knocked out, merc can grab and kill him and spy cant do anything to protect himself. So, why not to make an ability to attack merc while you (as spy) are grabbed (like Spy vs Spy fight)?
Why? He beat you in the first place. Of course, your partner can come up behind him and grab him. A much used tactic. Using your partner as live-bait =]
hm... maybe you are right...
this feature would look and feel nice, but wouldn't change the balance. this is because in 95% of the cases where you are knocked down, you will/could easily be killed lying on the floor, either from a headshot or a nade. but what you guys should also see is that with no emf ghosting, it will be fucking hard to find the spy on the floor covered in a smoke cloud...
Look. I mean it will be the chance to stay alive.
it will help you in 0,1% of the cases, and you will die way less anyways due to no emf ghosting.
But you will have this chance.
o rly?

THis is why you have a gun to quickly perform random shoots around you until your aim turn red :-*
Like a drunk guy trying to fight someone moving around in circles?
