Oh em gee, did everyone forget how the spy was recognized as having the glowing three eye visions?
Seriously, if these new beams shooting out of what are supposed to be eyes are going to stay, might as well make it "alien vs. mercenary"
the spies have the glowing tubes on their arms too don't they? it shouldn't be a problem... :-\
Imo, it makes the spy look more like Predator. It's cool though. Don't you realize that it was ubi's spy that was recognized for the tri-eye goggles? Not this spy.
The spy model is FINE. If you have time to look at it, you should either:
A) Get out of the spawn
B) Play against better players
I'm pretty sure that the concept of the spy is still based off of the goggles. If you guys want to be -not so nice fellows- about this, then go -train your wrist muscles-
Well, you have to understand, that if the devs don't want to be sued for copying the googgles they have to make them look different.

1. as most have mentioned before, they have to look different due to copyright matters , also
ironically the goggles were 6 dots which look like the xbox logo.
2. PROFANE language will not be tolerated on this forum, save it for sclamers

Actually, the spies had 5 dots, one big in the middle and four around it.

Don't quote stuff. It makes me have to edit multiple times. And put -stuff- as a replacement. And that makes me sad.
Gah! Those replacements are great!
Yeah, if only frvge could make a script that would automatically replace certain words, he'd have much less to edit.
No, there's not much humour in that. I prefer a humourous way of modding when it's necessary.

guggle....we are concerned with copyrights and are not going to rip off UBI.
3-lens goggles would be trademark infringement.

But since we're waaaaaaay better and cooler, WE'RE GONNA MAKE IT SIX!:P
no no...MAKE IT 10 !!!
We experimented a lot and this was best.

Fine, I understand, but I don't think that beaming eyes is a good alternative.
And we tested 6+ designs and this one was the final version. ;)
I think that a 3 goggle lenses on just one eye is still the coolest and the most badass. I think that Kebab modeled one like that and it looks just sick. Looks a lot like predator, but what's wrong with that lol We aren't in any copyright fueds with the guys that made predator are w ;De?
The spy should have been left somewhere around this point : http://www.projectstealthgame.com/index.php/topic,160.45.html.
Right now it looks like a creature, not a human! Good Kebab's modeling on the spy (I'm sorry) are way over exaggerated, making it a little lame. I'm not saying that I could make anything better, but I do think that the spy could be improved by removing some of the glow and he should also have to bare skin showing. (I know that this doesn't only apply to the face, but there is no need to add criticism to this discussion) :) ;) :D :D ;D
Oh, and the goggles don't have to be kept to improve the spies appearance, since Ubi can be a little protective. :P
Sorry. No bare skin showing*

Ubi trademarked actual NV goggles?!? That's like trademarking the M16. I think you're just being paranoid.

Whoa, never thought of it that way. I think he's right :-\ ;)
I'm not sure if I remember seeing anything specific, but I remember some copyright text about "splinter cell logo". What other logo is there for splinter cell other than the trinocular goggles? It may be copyrighted, I'm not sure if it can though...
I still prefer having 3 dots on one eye :P
Better safe then sorry, I say. It's a grey area with copyright so why take take the risk to get sued?
Though I agree that the goggles of the spy do look a little "lame", I don't think that wasting time on modifying something that is already completed is necessary.
Actual NV goggles are not trinocular and rarely are they binocular most are monocular so yes, the trinocular goggles adopted by Ubi to represent Splinter Cell should be avoided... At least do your research before you try to say how it SHOULD look.
Oh and the trinocular design was for 3 visions modes used in single player: NV, EMF and Infra
When Splinter Cell was originally made the technology to create a single receptor for all 3 modes didn't exist and they went with 3 lenses for the sake of some realism.
There was some thread about this ages ago on Ubi.
Ubi is actively using the 3-lensed goggles in marketing and they are known for it. Image-trademark is possible.
They _most likely_ don't have a copyright on the goggles, but that's no reason to make them angry.
FYI: the splinter cell logo is just the formatted text.
I like the current look of spy's head even more than the one from SC. All who think that it should be changed (especially the ones who are here for less than month) only show disrespect to Kebab's hard work and frankly, they should be castrated and hung upside down with a stick in their ass.

amen.
I mean the 3 dots on one eye. That would look best Imo, but I don't have any complaints about the current spy model.

Real NV goggles, the good ones, are tri-nocular. They have two oculars for the eyes, and a 3rd, smaller piece that shoots out an infra-red beam.
SO WHY THE F*CK WE HAVE THESE SHITTY ONES?
j/k

Edit: my statement that most are monocular was inaccurate in that I mean they use a single objective lens, monocular was the wrong term.Perhaps the thread may have contained misinformation, it was so long ago I can't remember if anyone from Ubi actually posted in it or not.
Your statement about "good" NV goggles... About as far from the truth as possible.
The type you are talking about are the first generation goggles and by no means anywhere near the quality of the current 4th gen goggles. The technology is quite a bit different and no one in any hostile situation would use an infrared projection unit like the first gen goggles used because it's visible to anyone else using NV goggles giving away your position as readily as a flashlight would. Most 4th gen have the ability to project an infrared beam but it is a very very tiny lens that does not stick out from the headset at all and is only noticeable upon close inspection.
Aside from monocular NV devices which are usually scopes or hand-held they are ALL binocular and none are trinocular, that 3rd lens you see on old WW2 goggles is an objective lens and not an ocular lens, it is what gathers the photons from the upper infrared and lower visible spectrums. In modern NV devices it is the only pickup required and rather than just gathering photons it takes photons and converts them to electrons multiplying them and then back to photons again. Unless the goggles perform additional functions they will have only one pickup on them as nothing more than that is needed. It does still project a stereo image into the goggles ocular viewers (Because of this they are considered binocular regardless of whether or not it uses 1 or 2 objective lenses). Some now use two of these tubes, one in front of each eye so as to produce slightly better depth perception and true stereo vision for people such as helicopter pilots.
Dont worry guys....if PS gets enough support once we release a version for everyone to play...I want to add new skins. But for now, we have to continue with the rest of the project.

OMG, Kebab, you are awesome. Unlike some others on this forum who get mad when they aren't even being directed to, I personally attacked your image of the spy *sorry if offended, didn't mean to :-** and you are still working to make project stealth better in my view. :D
Stfu agent. He was talking about this thread. Comprehend before you bust a nut on someone. He was saying that people were getting too defensive about the model of the spy when it wasn't even said towards them, and to an extent I agree with him. Keep this flamewar elsewhere, ffs.

Wow, you deleted your post to make me look like a idiot. Good try -hair protector in the shower-. Grow up...
Lol, nice edit. :D
Sorry but he really got on my nerves by doing such a stupid thing.
When some one makes a post criticizing something long done does it with all the fines of a 5 megaton bomb then yeah, some people are going to get pissed. How is that so surprising? He knew exactly how people were going to respond when he chose his wording.
Looks like we were both mistaken then. My bad.
