Auto Grab;Dont know if this has been suggested yet, but its a pain in the ass when you jump on a mercs head but the auto grab takes over, would it be possible to hold the forward key to grab a ledge and if you dont want to grab press backwards key or something like that :)
Well, grabbing a ledge in the middle of the fall is good.
At least when the merc is stupid enough to berzerk.
Just make it so that auto-aim is off if you hold the crouch button.
Yeah, it should auto grab the whole time. Except when you are holding down a key.
Holding is annoying. Why not just press a button and it applies for the rest of the jump? I'm never going to remember doing it anyway. For me, autograb messing up a jump happens less often than someone hacking electricity on club.
You guys know that pressing/holding crouch in midair makes you crouch when you land, right? Also works for taking your gun out.
More Edit: When was the last time you saw an autograb coming? Doesn't it always happen unexpectedly?

Imo, this isn't much of a problem either. But having that extra ability just for those few times would be nice.

Yeah, but what does that have to do with autograb?

I can see them coming. Sometimes. Like half of the times that an autograb happens I can see it coming. Again, this isn't much of a problem.

Because everyone was suggesting holding down the crouch button in midair. Courching is the last thing I want to do if I miss a merc's head.
Well, if you were crouched before the fall (considering it's a fall, not a jump) on the merc and miss, you can still press C (crouch) once (to get standing position) and hold TAB (roll) and W (forward) to get the 'speedroll' going on.
Imo - useful.
It's just that during midair, one button does two different things. Don't grab a ledge and crouch (or stand straight) when you land. Makes it counterintuitive.
Well, in CT i never happened to grab a ledge by mistake, rather the opposite happens.
Also not-grabbing a legde would require some animating, since you would still hit the wall.
i've only had it mess me up once since i started playing again.
I was jumping forward along side a ledge and it grabbed it :(
Also i think that pulling your self up should be a little faster ...

That doesn't really matter, because you don't want to crouch anyways if you intend to jump on a merc (you want to run away, probably). If no merc is near, you won't need it at all, you'll have the time to grab the ledge and slide down.
AUTO- GRAB
Auto-grab always been a problem in Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory, so I strongly suggest that you should need to hold the "A" (grab merc/ action) button in mid-air. If I'm right, this button can't normally be used in mid-air. This will be more interactive this way and more natural. Assassin's Creed is totally boring because everything is done automatically.
The only problem would be if you assigned an air-attack to the spy.
AVOID FALLING DAMAGE
It will be a lot more interactive and fun if the players can avoid a part of the falling damage by Pressing the Crouch button while landing.
I like the autograb and cant remember situation when I died because of it.
i can think of a spot, try jumping into the water area of club house, coming out of 1st floor garden, you will grab the next rail over ..........
That's more of an example of bad map design than bad controls, isn't it?
Nah, auto grab and auto roll gotta go. You should have to be pressing the direction toward the ledge to grab onto it.
Play Warehouse more often lol, I swear it will happen. This also mainly happen when many legdes are placed on the same line, but at different levels (first floor, 2nd floor, 3rd floor).
I'm sur you want a fast gameplay, and Auto-grab when you do not want it to work is becoming boring pretty fast and freezing the Game Flow.
Auto-Grab is first a bad game design decision making the level design pretty restricted. Giving the option to have to hold a button to activate the auto-grab would be the best at this time.
well wait, we dont want to hold a button while jumping, just while falling, which is why it makes it hard ...
Just holding a button while falling would disable autograb. Maybe holding down the down button?
How about giving people a choice. They could decide whether they want to play with autograb or not.

Like toggle crouch? GREAT idea.
That would be weird, and kind of annoying imo, to have to hold down the crouch button to actually crouch. Maybe it would help for quick get-aways though. ???

But why the Crouch button? The "A" button (xbox) would be perfect for that in the air. The same button to grab the mercs by behind, no?
Maybe coding this would be harder than I could think, but this was a major problem that I always dreamed to be changed. If I'm the only one complaining about that, I do not think it's necessary to change it as it is now.
Plus, if you add to this Game the feature : "avoid falling damage by pressing crouch while landing", better use the "A" (action button) button.
You said toggling crouch. If you held down crouch to stay crouched. That was what I was talking about.

LOLLL no lolll... I was joking about a toggle crouch for sure X_x
It's not even possible with a controller and it's not a really good idea for PC (toggle crouch for PS). It could maybe fit for the MERC thought...
How about Jump and hold to grab onto something. Tap Jump to just do a jump and fall.

Will you be able to realease the "Jump Button" while in mid-air... make a mistake and hold it again to grab a lege?
Holding the "jump button" could, I think but not sure..., enter in conflict with the wall-jump like the one in CT. If it was the case... better find another alternative.
hmmm... Auto grab really isn't that big of a problem tbh.

You are right, but if we can do soemthing about it, it could be nice to finally do it lol.
Having a button to press to disable autograb while in the air seems the most logical.

May be true, but that has nothing to do with keyboard configuration. We don't know how it will work yet, and if autograb and autoroll exist, then something has to be done yea?
