Public Discussion / Re: The game's engine

I suggest kjAPI. It is being developed by a commercial company based in Singapore and it has a "free for non-commercial use" type of license.

UDP networking is not yet implemented though and it looks like they are prioritizing other stuff at the moment but maybe if we ask politely they will implement it sooner. :)

It doesn't have a lot of documentation yet but the creators are very helpful and a question asked on their forum is normally answered within a day.

Anyway, check out the features list.

I don't think we should even consider another language than c++ to be honest.

Thought I would compose a list of noteworthy free C/C++ libraries. Add to the list if you wish but please use the same formatting.

General purpose
Allegro
kjAPI
Simple DirectMedia Layer (SDL)

Graphics
Ogre 3D
Irrlicht

Audio
FMOD
OpenAL

Networking
Enet

I really like kjAPI so far. Do check it out.

Sorry, no samples yet.

However, check out the official university website: http://www.gscept.com/
Watch the movie and check out the project blogs.

I have a friend working as a sound designer at a fairly well-known professional game development company (I won't tell you which ;D)

He is pretty busy but if I send him a list of sounds once in a while he will record them and upload them somewhere.

If you want samples then give a few detailed descriptions of sounds you would like to hear and he will record them and send them to me.

Hi guys,

I can probably help in the coding department. 8)
I am studying game development at a Swedish university and we are currently developing a 2D space shooter for cellphones.

I have good c++ knowledge and also know java. Depending on exactly when development will begin I should have some time over for this project.

Oh and I love CT SvM of course. ;)
