doors make a useful noise while opening, and sometimes they delay the merc. but maybe i should try this out ;)

i think we should fix the game so that it is the way it was meant to be played. just remember its primarily a console game: low resolution (=>short emf range, camo hard to detect on higher ranges), fps-cap (=>hardly emf ghosting), no eax (=>not hearing everything on the whole map), slower turn rate, worse aiming, no eax, ...

if you consider this, the game should be better balanced as it is right now (mercs win most of the time), and the spies get stealth as a viable option.

I think the sides are mostly balanced and it boils down to map layout. I'm certainly not for limiting framerate or resolution. Club House is arguably the #1 balanced map in the game.

As for the doors opening/closing: that's what you have spy bullets/HB sensor/a partner to warn you for. Besides, you can't get shot from the doorway in Jacuzzi so it's not like you won't see the merc coming.

Worse aiming can't be done. A mouse is by its nature far more precise than a console controller.

As far as slow turning rate, the xbox version had a quick-turn function that would make the merc do a fast 180, so I think fast merc turning to address threats was intended. The only real advantage the PC version has is that the merc can look around the level much faster. About all we can do to address that is possibly introduce a motion blur or something if you turn around too fast.

FPS cap would be a bad idea. Smoother gameplay is always a good thing, and hopefully we can find a way around the EMF ghosting that doesn't involve making the game choppy.

As far as low resolution goes, I think it actually might improve the game. Camo is notoriously better on xbox than it is on PC and resolution is a big cause of that. Keep in mind that any change that lets either side see better is inevitably a balance shift in favor of the mercs and makes stealth more difficult. I know many people like to show off their 1337 new video card and run the game at 1600x1200 resolution (or god knows how high UT will let you put it), but for a game that's so dependent on vision and enemy detection as a balance mechanism. I think having a fixed resolution would be the best way to balance things.

As far as EAX goes... get rid of that junk. It was BS to begin with and did nothing good for the game at all.

The game is going to be on a different engine so all the stuff you guys are worrying about will likely not even be an issue.

invisible, you don't get me. i just wanna say, copy the gameplay of the xbox version, and not of the pc version ;)
and hopefully, we won't encounter these problems with a new engine. a fixed resolution would be an easy solution, but not the best one imo.
