Merc B: *Chooses continue game when player Merc A resumes*
Spy A: *Chooses DM*
Spy B: *Chooses DM*

Now, Merc A is gone, Merc B is frozen, Spies A + B have no one to play against.  Eh, there's so many situations like this that could ruin the entire room from this idea.

I'm sick of discussing such a stupid suggestion like this.  And yes, it is stupid.  No one will ever vote yes unless it's friendly server where everybody knows eachothter.  If it is one of those servers, who the hell cares who wins/loses?  If it's a good game then just make sure no one leaves the match and you can have that same competition NEXT ROUND, or the next round, or the next one, or EVEN THE NEXT ONE...  And if it's a good game I'm sure no one will leave it to take a quick piss.  This is ridiculous, and I hope doesn't even get the slightest smidgen of interest from the devs.

Cockfan's idea is even worse than the original. Papa is right (yes, I give it to him). There have been no sound points the entire thread as to why this idea is....well....good. Theres nothing concrete. You can't judge another players reactions in game. I can already guarantee that if this is implemented...and anyone suddenly needs to pause to go tinkle mid game...d/c and blacklist. Obviously not worth the time. As it spreads more and more you will see that the community diminishes drastically because how many times do you have people come in your server going "GO GO GO GO 60 60 60 60" You bet they're going to want to pause. People don't have the patience and/or time to deal with such bullshit as a mid round pause.

ROUNDS CAN ALWAYS RESTART. Several rounds restart right away because of equipment problems. If its midway through, tough fuckin luck. No one said "hey, make sure you go afk midway through this game that you've CHOSEN to play in THIS server". I also don't want to go into a server where the host all of a sudden is like "YOU CHEAT IF YOU DON'T PAUSE CUZ I HAVE TO LET MY DOG OUT". Tough.....Fuckin....Luck.....

@westfall: there ARE players that want a pause function, eg kurbutti and me, and im sure that there are more out there. you also know me good enough that you should know that i'm not the type to press "ready" when i'm not, or to try to abuse such a function, and neither is kurbutti. you can't simply deny that we have a point: it's better to freeze a good game for a minute than having to restart the whole round. yes, this would only be used with friends. but in this little community every1 knows every1 anyways (at least if they're not faking), so this should be np. the fact that a pause and replay function are in pretty much every competitive game nowadays should also make you guys reconsider your view.

Actually, I know some myself. The Battlefield series, server admin can pause the game.

EDIT: I'm all against a freeze function, since I just explained Rambo it's frikkin' annoying to stare to a frozen screen for as long as the guy is away. Server admins did that to me in awesome battlefield games, and I just left them because I couldn't stand the waiting anymore. I'd rather have the "save state" feature, if any at all.

mainly in rts games like starcraft, but also in fps like the bf series.
lennard is right that it got abused a lot by stupid kiddy admins, but the admin's possibilities were really awesome for organizing clanwars with so many players.
i'd also rather have the backup function than a simple freeze.
