I really like the music in The Bourne identity and Bourne Supremacy movies. Something similar could probably create a nice atmosphere for the game.

Still, these are only 30 sec samples so I don't think they're gonna help inspiration that much. http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/3670680/a/Bourne+Identity.htm http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=6751324&BAB=A
personal favorites: 14th from identity and 2nd from supremacy

I think the first is too mellow and the second is too general. Still the second has some interesting things.

I actually thought of something with more action and speed in it.. I think it would be the best orchestra type fitting.. silent orchestra would fit in something more... emotional or epic like a huge fps war P: also action but umm.. other wise I think slow techno beeping stuff, much like the CT menu would do the best..

The begining of this I think is rather good, farther it becomes way too much.. loud and action P:

Nice music there. I like it a lot. Even the louder/action part.

it bores me to sleep (too simple and repetitive melody, no rythm changes, no quick dynamic changes, no different sound "colors" which is the speciality of an orchestra next to its dynamic coverage). there is nothing "stealthy" in it, and it's not creating suspense.
one thing we shouldn't forget is the demands for menu music: the melody must begin quite fast ,and it shoudln't be too repetitive.

On the contrary - noone would care about repetition, because people usually stay in lobby for about a minute. This means that you only need 60 seconds of variety, then you can repeat the tune gain and noone will notice(well, unless they are busy editing their keayboard layout or whatever).

And the music that was last posted is great for background music for a "last-objective-situation", IMO.

Overstatement

Don't forget that the music is not the only thing playing. It also has to go well with the sound effects that a menu makes such as those sounds that happen when you click a button.

Gawain

we could give the buttons the sound of an instrument playing in the menu music.

I prefer normal 'clicks'.
I've got another idea for some dark stuff, but it'll take a while before I'll release it.
It's not even in my program yet.

thats going in a good direction. did u make it yourself?
it's too hectic most of the time. the melodic instruments could play - who guesses - a melody.
but i really really like the sounds, the big dynamics and the wide-room athmosphere.
;D

no it's from metroid prime

I don't think normal clicks are the way to go anymore. Highlighting should make a noise and selecting should make a noise. Do you think that as you go from main menu to game menu the music should stay the same, or do you want different music selections for the different screens you go to (which might be a pain in the ass)?

Gawain

the music should stay the same when switching between menues.
i think using instruments of the background music for the buttons would be cool.
