I say give people the freedom to change their names whenever they want. Those of you who are hung up about "smurfs:" get over it.

The only reason people smurf is because of pride which is lame...SCCT is the only game ive known where people do this.

You obviously don't play many RTS.

On topic, smurfing can be good or bad.  I'd rather be able to do it than not do it.  In fact, it's really not that bad anyways.  Can't you tell who is who by their attitude/voice/playstyle/who they play with?  Shouldn't matter what name they are under, if you don't want to play with them boot the person/leave the game.

What do you mean "watch your reactions"? And I dont think i've ever been kicked for entering a room on my real, and nobodies has called me a cheater or hacker in ages. I really think all that bs has stopped now. In my opinion when you go on your real players are more willing to play you, people get hyped when they see good players. Also another point if someone else joins (eg i joined your server West, and you were on your real, i'd stay because i know i'd be up for some gg's, whereas i might not have, if i didnt i know who you were). So i think staying on real is overall better for the community (encourages the social aspect, no1 says anything ingame SCCT is taken way to serious (i include myself in this too) and if you were to use your real you could get to know players more easily, instead of this bs where no1 knows who anyone is unless tc) instead of using a fake. IMO fakes are teh reason CT is lacking a social element to it, no1 knows who each other are.

People smurf for way more reasons then that. Each one of my smurf accounts is a personality. It's like a game to me and I definitely don't try to hide who I am based on pride. If I try to hide who I am it's because I'm just messing with one of my eBuds for shits and giggles.

And like Spekkio said, sometimes you get tired of using the same name over and over or want to use a new name that sounds hilarious to get a laugh.

Every game has smurfing, but it's not as noticeable because most big MP games aren't focusing on only four players at a time or have such a small constant community.

I see your point, but i think smurfing is bad for the social element of ct, and it will be for ps. Nowadays, what ive found is no1 talks to each other ingame and its all taken so seriously. I know some players do smurf for pride which is lame. Games are supposed to be social tries, lets try and get people more friendly with another, and plus if other people outside the ps community or ct comm. download the mod weel want to make them feel welcome and stuff. CT should be social game, with only 4 ppl in a server people should be talking, its not like bf or something and plus its just generally more fun when you have a laugh.

and there is some who do it to be an ass , which is very annoying and also it gives people the space to act like a dick , and seems some of yall have a split personality cause when it comes to playing the game everyones cool and positive attitude , but as soon as they have that anonymity people act like real dicks,

Smurfing is ok for me. I do it when I dont want to spend time on answering pointless questions like: "from?" or  I just make a new acc when Im bored or playing after break so I can practice. If you dont like smurfing, dont do it and stop telling people what they should or shouldnt do. In fact, you want to force people to talk with you, while they dont want it.

PS: There will probably be no accounts in PS so smurfing will enter new era when you can change your name in game
