I was simply giving a reason why thermal vision beats night vision.  Big deal.
Thats not a reason why thermal vision "beats" night vision. Its a perk of thermal vision, just as night vision has perks.

NV already has plenty of use. I forgot how much of a NV vs TV thread this was. Poison mines anyone? Stay on topic or create a new thread.

NV has no perks that are useful compared to TV, especially to experienced players who know their way around the map.  It's just no competition.

NV will be a lot more useful than it used to be.

any drastic changes planned?

Well I always hear talk of darker maps, and that was basically confirmed by the vid of Lakehouse.  But once people learn the maps will there really be any use for NV that TV can't really do?  I'm not sure.

Remember Thermal will be nerfed, so stuff wont be as clear. NV wont be nurfed. In dark spaces NV>TV

To an unexperienced player NV didn't have any perks. You basically said what I said earlier in the thread, yet try and pawn it off like you're Gaiwan-leet.

Quote from: WestfallThermal is only superior if you know the map to a "T". Otherwise, NV shows excess amounts of things that you may not catch with either Thermal or Regular vision.

Farley4Fan

You don't have to know the map to a "T" to know that there is a vent in some shadows in some place.  With thermal on you could notice it anyways.

yeah only i can be that :P
on a serious note: there's nothing wrong with nv, it's just that tv is slightely op in seeing lasers in big distance.

Rambo I think you had a good suggestion for a boost for night vision a long time ago.  It was being able to see the cone where the cameras see.  Meaning you saw exactly where the cameras were looking and could avoid them, like on Single player.  I like it, could give NV a boost it needs especially on maps with a lot of security cams.

Gawain

yeah that would be a nice boost.

Westfall

Being able to see the cone of the camera view in Night Vision? Why don't we give mercs a vision that lets them see through walls? I don't think the NV needs a boost. It servers the purpose it was meant to serve...lighting up the dark. I DO, however, feel that when it gets to a lighter area it should be harder to see, which wasn't significant at all in the SC series.

As you could with fuckin night vision. You can't see random objects (boxes) if you're just being a thermal whore. NIGHT VISION....LIGHTS UP THE DARK. Thermal allows you to see through some objects, which I find to be bogus. Shorten the viewing distance for thermal and it will be less op.

"As you could with fuckin night vision"

That's my point: "AS YOU COULD"  TV can do things you could do with night vision, and not so much the other way around.  For people who do know their way around the map, having night vision on isn't necessary, at all - although neither is TV.  But that's my point, you can have TV on, see lasers/mercs/gadgets/through walls etc. but still be able to move through the map with ease, even in the dark.

Oh well, I agree with you on shortening the distance.

Westfall

Do you think you should be able to see shit through walls in thermal vision, which isn't meant to be X-ray vision?

Farley4Fan

Thin walls, yes.  That's up to the map designers.  It's one of those unique perks to TV.

Gawain

it's up to the map designers, though i think they have a very hard time: tv, emf, passive security, exact lightning etc are all things you don't have to bother creating maps for other games.
