Except for ventilation systems.  Then the Night Vison wins.  ;D

^ That's true, but it serves no real purpose that the TV can't do.  It lights up the geometry to the point where you can navigate in the dark with it on.  Although Night Vision may do that to a higher extent it also doesn't light up mines/lasers/gadgets/mercs.

Night vision lights up the dark, which is enough to be able to point out all gadgets and mercs. In vents, Thermal vision wins because you can see through them. Papa, you're talking out of your ass.

Farley4Fan

Night vision does not light up lasers, that is a big one.  Thermal can't see through all vents.

If the vent is exposed then yes it does.

Farley4Fan

That is correct, yes.  A lot of vents are not exposed, however.

But I didn't.  Everyone needs to chill, good lord.

The fact of the matter is that TV makes NV useless in most categories because it does most things as good and if not better.  That's it.

I was simply giving a reason why thermal vision beats night vision.  Big deal.

InvisibleMan999

Yeah honestly... NV just isn't that useful. About the only time you may want to use it is if you're running through the level for the first time and want to find all the places to climb up and stuff that happen to be in the dark. Sometimes you may not easily notice a pipe or something that's in the darkness without NV, but it's just not a vision that's used practically much. Maybe at some point, we can give it some other use, but I really don't think it's a high priority.

I used to be a NV WHORE on deftech Deathmatch. :P Oh back in the old days. That was mainly due to my monitor being really dark even on the brightest setting. :P

Farley4Fan

Lmao...

BUT, I remembered that the maps will be darker in PS.  But then again, if TV lights up geometry of maps like it does now, it still won't have big use to it.  There's got to be a way to fix this.  Maybe, give all the geometry of maps ALMOST the same shade of blue/purple (Depends on what devs decide for the TV colors), but make the places where light hits the surface a bit hotter than places where it doesn't.  That way it's easy to navigate with TV in lighter places but harder in darker places.  The way it should be.  It gives NV more use.

Thats not a reason why thermal vision "beats" night vision. Its a perk of thermal vision, just as night vision has perks.

NV already has plenty of use. I forgot how much of a NV vs TV thread this was. Poison mines anyone? Stay on topic or create a new thread.
