what is more interesting is that the plummet of the US dollar is quite deliberate and desired by the US.  They want this because now american products are cheaper to buy, which will encourage export over import.  For the longest time america has always been importing more then exporting. 

Yep, America is basicly a country to dump stuff. That's over now with the low currency, they (as in Asia) dumps stuff in Europe now.

Oh, it means you're rich in foreign countries, but your actually poor in the UK. Come on, I payed like 30 euros for 20 pounds, which is away in a few minutes (5 pounds for 4 batteries at Kings Cross?!?!! They weren't even great). I can take hours to give away that amount of money here in the Netherlands. So basicly, the UK is ripping you off :P
