Hi.
I'm jonthu and I like to animate. :) I admit that I'm not the best in the world but
I'm learning and developing my skills every day.

And what could be better opportunity to do that than being a part of
this awesome mod.

I have time and motivation (someday be so good that I could get a job in the
game industry.) so please give me a chance to prove my skills. Give me
a test of some kind so you can decide if I'm up to the job..

Here is an idle animation:

But i've learned lot about animation principles since that animation so keep that
in mind.

Looking forward for your responses.

Hey :)

Thanks for your message. We are indeed looking for more animators for the Mercenary.
As you said yourself, your level isn't top-notch yet, which will mean that, if the team decides to let you join, you'll be given fairly simple animations. This is still a great way to learn and be part of a great team :D

I made an internal poll, so you can expect a reply within roughly 4 days (takes some time).

Regards,

Thank you for your response. I don't care what type of animations I do
but being part of great team and working on a project is IMO best way to
learn and get better. :)

Just to make sure:

Are you currently:
- in school/college
- employed
- looking for a job
- unemployed and not looking for a job

and do you expect to be in the same situation in 2 months?

The reason why I ask is because we have had quite some well-meaning people join but then they were unable to deliver because of changing personal situations.

Could you make a ladder-climbing animation as a test?

I'm currently at school for at least two years now. And then to the job hunting.. ;)

Sure. Should I use any model I can find or..

I think it's best to do that for now :).

edit: if you want extra bonus points, you could make a 'get on ladder' from the top and bottom, and a 'get off ladder' from the top and bottom. But that's a lot of more work and not needed. Rather focus on the climbing itself, but if you want to do more, you can use these ideas.

Here is the ladder climbing anim:

It's just climbing cycle though... but it shouldn't be a big effort to
do getting off and on animations too.

frvge

Ok thanks. =] It's a bit late for me now, so you'll probably get access tomorrow :)

Another question: do you animate in Maya or in something else? Our other animators/modelers use Maya.
