Okay, so you've handled my other two pretty well so I think you deserve another go! My graphics card has a DVI, VGA and a HDMI port for displays, but my tower also has its own VGA port (it was covered with a black tab when I got it). Now, I've got a few displays lying around the home but they all use VGA, i'm using the one of the graphics card and when I plug one into the tower it, as I expected, wasn't detected. Is it simply impossible to use it because it's not on my display, is there a fix or am I stuck buying a VGA-DVI adaptor? Because if it's the latter I might as well buy a matching 19" to go with my current.

Sometimes the onboard VGA stuff is disabled in the factory, which is why it was taped off. Convertors arent that expensive, right?

The one on the tower is output for your onboard graphics chip. When you install a GPU, you are supposed to disable onboard graphics in the system BIOS, so the system manufacturer already did this for you. To my knowledge, there is no way to make the computer work with more than one non-identical display device simultaneously (not talking about SLI/X-fire, in which the two cards are acting as one device anyway) -- not that you'd want to, since using onboard graphics will drastically slow down computer performance.

As said by others, the one on the tower is onboard and is disabled in the bios, you either have the onboard one enabled or the one in your PCI slots, you can't have both.

Now for the ports on your videocard, there are converters for DVI->VGA and for HDMI>DVI>VGA

DVI->VGA is relatively cheap, around 10 dollars (you better check the box your computer came with, they mostly give you one already). Same goes for the HDMI->VGA, although, they mostly doesn't supply that one.

But as far as I'm aware (in case you have an ATI card, not sure about nvidia), only support 2 screens at once (like, my card has a VGA, DVI and TV-Out, I can use my primary and one of the other, never all at once).

I guess i'm gonna have to scout around for a VGA->DVI then, I'm probably going to buy another of the same monitor later because at the moment the displays will be different (looks wierd!). The only reason I want them is because i'm VERRRY lazy and i'd like to have UE on the left and kismet/generic browser and ut3 tutorials on the right. ^_^

I have a TFT in front of me and CRT on the left, on which I dump the generic browser and internet pages ;D
And sometimes I use MaxiVista to use my Laptop as a third screen (only when I do a lot of stuff at once).

Got my adapter today at the ghastly price of Ã,£20 :-X but I can live with that, I just wanted it set up ;) . I've just found MultiMon so I can have the taskbar across both screens, just starting to mess about with it now. ^_^
