Gadget: Spy Rapelling Cord?

I did some searching and found that mercenary rappelling cords had been suggested at one point (don't know if they made it in), but couldn't find anything that mentioned one for the spies. So, it would go a little like this:

The objective is on the ground in the room you are currently in, or maybe it is just a generic room that you are in. As you are crawling inverted along the ceiling (scenario 2: making your way through a ceiling vent), you decide the most effective way to reach the ground would be a slow, vertical descent (swan dive style). In the case of the inverted crawl, you could simply attach the cord to what you're crawling on and begin the descent. However, in this case you would only be able to go DOWN, as the way you are positioned would make it near impossible to go back up in a timely fashion (requires too much strength). This would also be balanced for gameplay because you wouldn't constantly be zipping up and down in the dark whenever a merc entered the room (would be too easy to stay undetected in such close proximity of the objective).

The above idea alone I think is good to stand on its own; however, the second scenario could be very cool, although require the ability to do co-op moves (don't know if they're in the game). While in the ceiling vent, you could use your buddy to be the guy up top (a la mission impossible) while you vertically descended on the cord. With this bonus, you could go UP and DOWN as your partner would be able to pull you up if needed. This too can be balanced. The man up top is basically a sitting duck, and a well placed grenade could take him out, sending you falling to the ground and being knocked out on impact while the mercs pump you full of bullets. So, while this move would be highly effective in some situations, it would also be highly dangerous/risky because the mercs can essentially kill two birds with one stone if they catch you.

Only one spy is required to have this gadget for this action to be preformed. Spy positions are interchangeable regardless of who has the gadget.

You would not be able to leave the animation until it was completed (ex. you can't drop from cord to ground, or let go of the cord when holding a friend). This is necessary to keep it balanced. I realize the example was lengthy, but I don't believe implementation would be as complicated.

Feedback is appreciated. I really hope I'm not stupid and a similar idea has been mentioned before.

It's currently not planned, but might be added later.

How I imagine PS to be is a selective mix of CT, CT Coop and DA.

CT, well, obviously....
CT Coop, because the moves and techniques you had there were just damn fine as a spy (like the coop rappling)
DA, because both sides had something new. What I especially would like to have (or implement, either way) is the rappling down for a merc and the escape moves.

I mentioned the idea in a earlier topic too :P.

That's cool. I did some searching and didn't find anything, but kudos for thinking of it first. I think it does sound pretty interesting, but after all it isn't deathly important that it makes it in.

frvge, I think it's really cool how often you're on here scoping for new ideas by the way. I'm pretty new, but you're nearly the first post in every topic. Very cool 8). LennardF1989 too. Lead Programmer even takes some time to look around. I love it.

No, unless you're a chick and you can prove that...

@STON3COLDKILLA: Your old topic immediatly started rattling about GE events (or EE's as we prefer to call them) and that's not really something anyone would get immediatly (afterall, it took me a huge blogpost to explain it). I suggest this topic stays of that track and there might be some discussing :)

For those interested in what EE's are: http://projectstealth.lennardf1989.com/08-03-2008/programmers-update-3/, Programmer's Update 3 will do :)

I'm not saying we should continue this in my topic man I'm just showing him it :P.
