Ok, thanks to HYPER STAG BEETLE I have seen yet another anime, this time: Neon Genesis Evangelion.

And I have to admit... This anime is a brainfucker at some point, none the less, it's briljant and soo deep/psychological it actually makes you think about it all the time.

So, I feel talking about it now with people who have seen it. Ofcourse, if you haven't, you can also just go and watch, so you can participate, here are is link with all 26 episodes:

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.viewVideos&channelid=228087177&page=0

You can watch them in both English and Japanese (Yes, with English subs). I suggest the latter, just because Japanese are better in their role, voices are better and it actually makes more sense (also lipsync) than the English dub.

A word of advice, DON'T go look at wikipedia untill after you watched all episodes (and the movies), because it will blow the plot away for you! You probably need wikipedia's glossary to tie the lose ends together (as I said, it's a brainfucker at some points).

If you intent to watch, the right order of watching is:
Episode 1 to 26
Death and Rebirth (Only watch Death(True), or Death(True)^2, in case you can find the directors cut of the 21 to 24 episodes)
The End of Evangelion (Both parts, duh)

Now, for a short description. I won't spoiler yet, I'll say so when I will (I need to have something to discuss, right?), here goes:

---

The anime is about a world united into one nation (United Nations, BESIDES the US though, they are independant) after a long war, caused by the so-called "Second Impact", a big meteor hit Antartica, which created numerous of tsunamis killing half the worlds population. Due to scarceness, people started wars, but these were ended by signing the UN contracts and world was peacefully again.

15 years later, in the year 2015, 14 old Ikari Shinji (Shinji is his firstname, first name is some sort of surname) is being called to Tokyo-3 to work at his fathers government creation, NERV. Tokyo-3 is one huge fortress, build to protect it's citizens against the so-called Angels, powerfull creatures which were predicted to attack 15 years after the "Second Impact", reasons unknown. Just at the moment Shinji is in Tokio 3, the 3rd Angel starts his attack.

---

That's about the the summary you will get without spoilering more information or telling you half of the first episode. If you're interested, you should already have some questions by now:

What is NERV?
Why is Shinji asked to work for NERV?
What about the Angel?

So go watch NGE, you won't regret it.

Now for the sake of this discussion, I don't actually know a starting point, perhaps someone could open the discussion? Preferably from Episode 1 to 3, so that newer watchers can also join the discussion.

I don't mind that you think i am a sick person but Neon Genesis Evangelion was good but Ergo Proxy hits your brain harder.

But this is about NGE ;) Have you seen it? Do you have any questions? Not specificly Episode 1-3.

I'm currently active on EvaGeeks.com to get some final answers, lovely community.

Offtopic: And besides, the newer pic you placed resembles Anime more ;) My next anime will porbably be RahXephon, because it is said it's close to NGE in both style (physcological drama) and storyline, yet, it's different. Anyway, ONTOPIC!

Didn't hear about reh something well. But ergo proxy is a better psychological triller not drama in my opinion.
Yeah i have seen Nga . But i don't have that much questions cause i've seen it like 2 years  ago and i don't remember it that well.

But there are not that much psychological anime  . There are a lot of good anime with black humor well , japanese humor etc , which are good.

Evangelion 2.0 Film Slated for June 27 in Japan

Posted by blizzarddog5 on February 19th, 2009 in Category ZOMG News

Evangelion: 2.0 You Can [Not] Advance, the second film in Hideaki Anno and Kharaââ,¬â,,¢s theatrical remake of Gainaxââ,¬â,,¢s Neon Genesis Evangelion television anime series, will open on June 27 in Japan. Khara had already revealed the title and early summer release window for the second film last October.

The projectââ,¬â,,¢s official website and the second filmââ,¬â,,¢s teaser, which was shown with the first film, promised the fan-favorite character Asuka, the EVA-02 through -06 units with new designs for many of them, a new eyeglasses-wearing brunette girl character, ââ,¬Å"more fan ââ,¬Å"service-service,ââ,¬Â ââ,¬Å"a shocking new story, and new visuals.ââ,¬Â The character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto designed three Be@rbrick toys ââ,¬â€ one each for Asuka, the character Rei, and a mystery character ââ,¬â€ to be sold separately on March 14 or bundled with advance film ticket purchases.

In related news, the official Evangelion website has announced on Thursday that the first movie in the remake project, Evangelion: 1.0 You Are [Not] Alone, will get a ââ,¬Å"1.11ââ,¬Â³ release on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on May 27. The 1.11 release will include new cuts and digital mastering. More details on King Recordââ,¬â,,¢s news release will be made public on March 16. There was an earlier ââ,¬Å"1.01ââ,¬Â³ version that was first released on DVD last April and given a second theatrical run that same month.

Funimation is releasing the first film in North America in film festivals and later on DVD this year. The first film opened in September 2007, earned over 2 billion yen (about US$20 million), and became the #2 top-selling domestic DVD in 2008, just below Boys Over Flowers Final. It won the Harayasa T?kaimura Award at the 7th Annual Japanese Otaku Awards, the Animation of the Year award at the 7th Annual Tokyo Anime Awards, and the Theatrical Film Award at the 13th Animation Kobe Awards.

Already know bout that, but thanks anyway xD I've actually seen the first part of the new remake already, it's very loyal to the anime :) Can't wait for 2.0 to see how it turns out.

Although, I think it's rather dull they keep redoing the same movies over an over again (I mean, 1.11, before that 1.01 and 1.0). Just do it right at once :P

They did the same with Death and Rebirth, The End of Evangelion, where Revival of Evangelion is considered the final cut... It's pretty damn annoying actually. I think they do it because they know real Evangelion fans will watch the movie again, to be sure they don't miss that one extra shot...

Nonetheless... EXTRA SHOTS ZOMG!1!!11!!!

Edit:
I have to say the manga goes further into the details which the anime took quite lightly (which is probably why the anime is soo confusing near the end). Although, the manga misses the much more complete ending the movies offer. Ah well, you can't have everything right?

Now I'm just convinced that this is homoerotic. Good pictures though. :P
