I picked it up along with Bioshock 1 for $33.75 on Steam via going in on a 4 pack.

I figured I would buy it eventually, so why not get both games for the same cheap price?

Anyone else planning on getting it when it comes out next Tuesday?

I'm probably getting the retail CE version. The vinyl thing with the soundtrack is just cool.
I'm a bit hesitant because of the invasive DRM tho, Even the Steam version has SecuROM AFAIK.

And GFWL sucks.

IMO: Prepare to be disappointed.

The first one was too good to follow up. The combat kind of got tedious toward the end, I'll admit, but I don't see that changing.

Muliplayer looks like a cheap timesplitters knock-off with a few features taken from other games and I will be so incredibly shocked if the game's campaign mode stands up against the first that I'll... do something.

Seriously, sequels are always a let-down.

I hope it's the exception to the rule but I'm not buying it until I've played it with my friends first.

That'd be why everyone stuck with PT, yeah.

I can't think of a way they can top the first ones twist.

However, when I think of Bioshock I only think of that twist. It's not as if they went and put the games back to back in the time frames, so what they could do with it is a mystery to me.

Course leave it to 2k to bring another big twist. So far they've done it at least 2 times in their games (System shock 2, Bioshock) we can only hope they put just as much thought into this one.
If you haven't noticed, I'm REALLY good at making a simple response into a wall of text.

Actually PT had better graphics than CT (SvM wise), and Ubi didn't let us play PT anymore, so everyone had to switch to CT.

So basically Bioshock 2 will be a letdown unless it happens to not be one. Right on!

When there are as many exceptions to a rule, such as that "rule" you claimed, then it is not a rule.

I'll hold out because of the idea of being too powerful.  They say you won't be because the enemies upped their game, but I'm not sure.  Rent it for sure, buy if I like.  However there are just so many games coming out.  If AVP turns out better than Bioshock I may get that instead.

I want to limit myself to less than a game a month for this first half of the year so that I have some things to play during the inevitable summer drought.  It's hard considering that Red Dead Redemption is coming out in April, Bioshock 2 in a week, AvP this month, Alan Wake in May (probably a rent though), Crackdown 2 sometime, and others.

This year is a curse disguised as a blessing.

I preordered it on Steam as part of a 4 pack for two main reasons:

1.  It came with a free copy of Bioshock 1 which is $20 normally in stores and which I have heard great things about.

2.  I would have ended up getting it eventually because of my OCD desire to own all GFWL games, so why not get it cheap?

frvge

I decided against getting it because GFWL + SecuROM (+ Steam) is too much of DRM. I'll wait till there's a patch. Shame, because I liked the first one.

I preordered BS2 from Steam as I liked the first one and by all accounts
the second one is supposed to be much better. And I like Steam because
then I don't have a bunch of Video games boxes lying around.

Well it made me lol.

The multiplayer is AWESOME!  Haven't tried the SP yet since I would like to beat the first game first, but I played MP for about an hour this morning and it rocks!

You haven't tried the single player yet since you would like to beat the game first?  I don't understand.  lol  ???

He hasn't completed bioshock 1 yet.

I take my previous lies back. It's a great sequel and the multiplayer is a fun halo/timesplitters combo. I thought there was only 1 big sister though who was menacing and would be a constant fear throughout the game, kinda disappointing when I killed her not far into the game.

Also, the drill coulda been WAY more gorey, the drill melee actually sounds more painful.
