Mass Effect 2 is just so great that I decided to add sex into the title.  Because sex is cool.  Sex.

Sorry.  Sounded funnier in my head.

Discuss the game.  It is literally just behind CT as my 3rd favorite game of all time.  (All Zelda games are number one since they are essentially the same game, don't judge me).

Already doing my second playthrough immediately after beating it for the first time.  This time I will be renogade and listen to the song of the same name by Styx whilst playing it.  I'm blown away.

Mass Effect 2 was very well done.

Thinking back on Biowares titles; I'm surprised at how jaw dropping I thought it was when you figure out who you REALLY are in KOTOR. Biowares ability to tell a story is just getting better and better.

...Some of the things it promised with the Save Game Import were a little lackluster though... Love Interest, Council Decision, Anderson Vs Uldina (spelled right?), Peak 15 outcome. Others like Conrad (though he acted like I was a dick in the first one) and Helena Blake were nice though.

Though the best part of the game for me personally is the change in Paragon/Renegade options. Mass Effect 1 was filled with either: Paragon, I'm going to stop the fighting and make with the love. Or Renegade, I'm going to shoot people till I... *Insert Objective*.

2 made more of a push at what they wanted Paragon and Renegade to mean. Just cause you're Paragon doesn't mean you make daisy necklaces when someone pulls a gun. You just threaten people instead of pushing them out a window. Subtle change, but I liked actually being an asshole while still playing the "Good" side.
If you haven't noticed, I'm REALLY good at making a simple response into a wall of text.

In my opinion it's the greatest 360 game ever made.  I know it may be superior on PC but I can't think of anything else graphics/story/gameplay wise that touches this masterpiece.

Now that I'm further into my renogade playthrough I'm stunned even further.  The quick decision renogade moments are so fun and they actually are more rewarding than hugging a crying squadmate and whatnot.

The conversation options are much different than playing as a tree hugger.  Sometimes I hate my new Shephard though because he's an ass.  I guess that's what makes the game so great.  You actually feel something for the characters.

Graphics wise I'd say Uncharted 2 hits at least the same if not better than ME2

Story wise I'd go with Bioshock over ME2... or ME 1... Or any start to a series.

As for Gameplay in a Combat sense, it really isn't different than MANY games of the same flavor.

Execution of all three I would have to say ME2 does it the best so far.

I say the story isn't as good as the likes of Bioshock because it serves just like any 2nd game in a trilogy does (or movie for that sense). It's something to fill up the space between the first encounter and the final battle.

***ME2 Spoilers Ahead

The actual story is just you searching a human colony, recruiting some members, searching a currently being demolished colony, recruit the rest of your members, and finally destroying the Shiz out of a big ass ship. In the end... Collectors or not... nothing really happened that is carried from the first one.

***End Spoilers

While what makes it look better is how they tell the story of you ultimately doing nothing. Starting the game with a huge explosion. Giving you info about a race they made up and how it connects to the first game. While also distracting you with Character Quests and planet scanning. By no means do they do it BAD. In fact, the game is great. They just have the same problem with a trilogy that everyone does... You have the start. You know the end. How do we connect the two. Nothing too drastic can happen. You can't wipe out half the Reaper fleet in 2, because then 3 would feel just like you're doing a clean up job rather than actually killing off the Reapers in one big Sha-bang (Cause we have to brace for the epic of how we're going to do that).

As for gameplay outside of combat. Nothing beats Bioware's ways of letting you play the character you want to play.

Yeah I meant to say as a combo of graphics/story/gameplay nothing else really touches it.  And I was saying on xbox 360.

I know the story is really simple.  They give you a goal and a list of people to go get to achieve that goal.  However the real story for me is all the filler between the first moments and the final battle.

The genius twists they throw in such as the SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS protheans being the collectors and working with the geth AND the characters with their backstories.

It's all interesting from top to bottom, beginning to end.  With pretty dramatic consequences for your actions and things you've said it just feels so open to me.

But you're right.  As far as main STORY goes, there aren't many events that keep you engaged with it.  It's the universe that draws you in and the story that keeps you going rather than a story that draws you in and keeps you going like Bioshock.  It's hard to really say what I meant in that last sentence but I'm sure you understand it a bit.

And you are wrong about one thing.  Things have been carried from the first one.  The one thing that sticks out to me is the  SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS big ass mass accelerator gun that took out a reaper.  There are plenty of Chekov's guns, pun intended, that will likely be fired in the 3rd game.

This game is the jelly of the jelly donut that will be the trilogy.  I guess.

Pretty excited to see what stuff they are gonna throw in.  What do you think they're gonna be?

Mass Effect 2 lacked the drive. There was no greater good. ME1 had a better structured story where you would pick up teammembers along the way AFAIK. Now it didn't feel like the worlds were connected. I mean, what has Illium to do with the quest for the Collectors? Nothing! The game is alright but the stories in BS1 and ME1 are definatly more engaging.
