Thief series... and fan work.

Ok. Now anyone who is interested in stealth action games must have at least heard about Thief series and it's main character Garret the Thief(My favourite game character). I haven't played the first and second part of the game, tho the fans say that these are the best and I won't deny that.

I played the last part called Thief Deadly Shadows. It was amazing! The plot, the gameplay, atmospheric cinematic breaks. I've seen a few people sayin that you can play this game even for one mission. The Cradle, it's like being in a very good horror movie. In this mission I broke the barrier of the screen! I was actually trying to trun my head(the real one) so I could look out of the corner! It's really amazing feeling. Whole plot is so twisted that I almost died when I found out about some facts later in the game. Pure GENIUS!

Why the fans of older parts didn't like the last part? Because it was totaly different and well after 8 years They were willing to see a true revolution a breakthru and it wasn't. Garret lost a few of his equipment items and some of the abillities. Now I can understand why people got mad when they've tried the last part of their beloved game.(SCDA - no tazer... WTF?)

Now the theif community was always getting Editors(UT engine based) to make FanMissions to each version of the game. They made tones of them! Here is a link:

I think the main reason I wouldn't play the FMs for the first two parts is the graphics. I just got used to newer graphics I wouldn't manage long lookin at "cubehead warrior". But still I am impressed how much creativity has this community they really want this game to keep goin! They even made by themselves the coop program so they could play all the FMs with their friends. Even with 8 of them on one map!

Well I played the Thief Deadly Shadows FMs I liked those missions but there were not many of them, just like 20 or a little more. I was lookin around for something else and I found about The Dark Mod. It's a total conversion mod of Doom 3 which changes it into a stealthy game inspired by theif series. It's Thief 1 and 2 based tho it has the newer graphics. "That's it!" I thought to myself. At last I can try out some thief game other then Thief DS. Darkradiant editor seems to be enjoyable becuase more and more missions show every week! Here is a link to main webside:

Now finally the last thing I wanted to tell you about Theif's community work.
Thievery! That's an UT mod in which you take either position of the guard or the theif! You play against each otehr. Thief's mission objectives are different depending on the mission you've chose. Mostly you have to steal loot and some other stuff. Sometimes find an object and well... STEAL something. you can either stay away from the guards and try to avoid them or kill them using bow or sword(tho you might not have it). Before the game you buy your equipment. Anyway? Does it remind you guys of anything? Guards? Thiefs? Get something?

People in the thievery talk about scct people. All thief community knows about sam fisher though I must admit I think Garret is better and well He is still alive not like Sam lately...(SCDA, SCC... blah! OH GOD WHY?!?!?)
