I could swear there was a pre-release video of a spy shooting his SS while he had a merc grabbed.  Like a promo gameplay trailer for PT multi or something.

It was in this style just different gameplay:

cool trailer for giggles and nostalgia:

edit

never mind i found it, but he didnt shock the merc while he had him grabbed, his teammate did.  This is what made me want PT.  Badly.

*drooling out nostalgia * ahh the good old days , sigh.

Sounds like something that would already be in the game.

Instead of pointing out obvious reasons why it wouldn't hurt to be in there I'll just leave 1 situation.

A Merc lays a mine. You grab him from behind without setting it off. Pulling out your gun you place your laser over the freshly activated mine. Tapping into his comms you hear the a shout of "FUCKIN HAXX". You fire. The Merc's body absorbs a majority of the damage from the blast. You're stunned and kill-less, but alive. You give a slight grin as a "X just committed suicide" message pops up.

The other two people may not know what just happened, but that respawning Merc sure as hell does.

Im going to have to disagree with you because everyone knows if you stand up at all near a proxy it will blow up =/... so that negates that theory.

I do however think it would be a good defensive tactic especially if your partner is dead.

Speaking of "especially if your partner is dead" how about some Rules of Engagement; MErc kills your partner, you get 5th Freedom. i know i've been stroking the pistol harp for a while but the handicap of losing a mate could be offset to the surviving spy getting his revenge on.

1 spy can easily out smart 2 mercs , it's up to you to devise a plan to make it happen.
