BCS National Championship Game

I know the whole system is a sham.  The lack of a playoff is proof-positive that it is all just a money grabbing machine hell bent on nothing but faking tradition and raking it in.

HOWEVER (!)

The best 2 teams ARE playing for the national championship in college football (Yes, the real kind of football), and one of those teams just happens to be my Oregon Ducks who I have loved, supported, and cried with even before my umbilical cord was cut (so, since I was about 3).

I know at least Curdy follows football (and I am sorry about Wisky, but your loss in the Rose may help a playoff system come to be), and I am wondering who else is a fan.

It's a dream come true to see the Ducks have such success.  This video is amazing ---

Let me put it this way...

I may not watch... root... or even particularly care about what my state's teams are up to, but even I feel indirectly affected by the fact that we apparently are doing good this season(?). It's as if I'm just better than a majority of people. For no other reason than I am in the same state.
If you haven't noticed, I'm REALLY good at making a simple response into a wall of text.

Jimmy Fallon > Craig Ferguson
Oregon Ducks > Scam Newton (Oh wait I mean the Auburn Tigers)

BTW I'm for the playoff system too

I have thought about that.  Why am I a fan?  There is no pros and cons of teams I put into a hat and read later to decide where to throw my fan-dom.  I have come up with a few explanations and reasons for being a fan.

You are born into the program.  Your family has loved this program and you start to share the same feeling.  But that doesn't explain why the first person in your family chose the program.

You see a program rise from dirt to success.  You can't help but root for a team that has came from nothing, like my Ducks have.  Terrible since their inception until the 1990's.  And now, Jimmy Fallon/Sebastian freakin Bach is making power ballads for them.

Everyone around you has passion for the program.  To cheer for a team with a bunch of people you don't know brings unity, even if you'd strangle these people normally.  The collective love you see for the team makes you start to love the team and you love being unified with everyone with one common goal.

Uh oh.

Missed some chunks, but saw the points at the end. Good game (in my limited view on what a good game of football is) that really came down the very last seconds.

I thank my employers for paying me to watch this game and answer phones. Even helped someone figure out how to stream the game off the internet while working also.

Great game.  Oregon will get national respect for going toe to toe with an SEC team and almost pulling it out/stopping Newton.  Obviously I would have rather seen the Ducks win, and I was hyper ventilating almost the entire game, but this was the best season in Duck history (win or lose)...

If only whatshisface would have gotten that touchdown in like... the 2nd quarter. Instead of being about 1 yard away from it... for 4 downs.

Still good, and for a person that never watches football. Pretty exciting.

It was Kenjon Barner that couldn't get in but it was the offensive line that couldn't create a gap.  Good to see that it generated some interest even in non-football fans - like my Mom lmao

It had more hype than the super bowl.  Good for the sport.  In football there are so many times you can make a play.  IF ONLY is what everyone tends to say.  If only Cliffy would have caught that interception in bounds.  If only Kenjon woulda got in.  If only our defense could have stopped them on that last drive.  If only the kicker would have had a heart attack at the end of the game while kicking it.  :D

It's just the way the games goes.  They capitalized on some things and didn't on some other things.  Auburn just took advantage of slightly more opportunities.  Closest title game I have ever personally watched.  It's just too bad the ducks couldn't win this one.  If they played ten times  I feel like the ducks would win 5 times.  Oh well.

Is there anyway of watching any of this online? Preferably live? Cause I do this in wyrre...wyral? wyrrel? God damn it, anyway this is an awesome good sport, would be nice to see one of the real matches :P

Aj

We(Ohio State) might have been in it next year had it not been for the assholes on our team that sold their sugar bowl rings and sold autographed jerseys for tattoos...

Lol, and this came after AJ Green sold his jersey/got suspended and the players said "GEE I didnt know it was illegal DERPDERP".  I like the way the coaches handled it though by making them vow to come back to serve their suspension in order to play in the bowl game.  At least you guys won your bowl game Aj  :)  If there were a playoff every team would have a chance every year.  It's almost criminal, the system as it is.

Yeah but you can't complain because your Ducks made it to the ship this year  ;).  But they should change it.  Did you hear this song alot?  We Goin' to Da 'Ship!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lstuVKhy2kU

Well ya I know I said that in my original post.  I realize that the best two teams played in the championship this year, but then they go and put TCU ahead of my ducks after the championship game?  Auburn #1, TCU #2, Oregon #3, wtf?  I thought that this system put the best two teams in the big game?  Meaning #1 and 2?  So apparently Oregon loses by 3 to Auburn and the system thinks TCU would lose by less than 3 to Auburn.  TCU deserves a shot obviously if they think they are better than the ducks all of a sudden.  A last second field goal loss makes the Ducks undeserving of the top 2?  Lick my ass.
