Just curious, after spending time talking to MulleDK I found out that it takes 3x nVidia GTX 580 3GB cards to run/render DX11 in the most smoothest fashion. So what DX do consoles have DX8 or 9? Will be very surprised if 10.

Also isn't it kind of ironic that consoles like EggsBox 3.60$ or PS3 is meant to be purely for gaming yet they have crappy graphics compared to PCs? I mean what the hell, even though I hate consoles it would make sense if the newest DXs would come out on consoles first rather than PCs for games?

VaNilla

The hardware has to support a version of DX for it to run. They were designed for DX9 way before DX10 came around and that's why they can't support anything higher.

DreadStunLock

Well that is just crap isn't it? You can't buy consoles to escape poverty of gaming. But even after you bought it you are still in the crap graphics section :(

Farley4Fan

Graphics are overrated.  I can't play with my buds on a computer from my couch.

DreadStunLock

That's definitely true, I actually forgot about that, but playing with your friend is truely the best experience!

The reason why consoles have such crappy graphics cards is that they're so old in design. PS3 was released on November 2006, that's at the same time cards like GeForce 7900 GTX and 7950 GX2 were the top end cards, now their performance is laughable when compared to even current generation graphics cards from the mid-price range.

PC Gaming is slumping around exactly because there's so many hardware choices that you can make and still want to play games. Because games have to be able to be played on multiple different kinds of GPU's with different architectures, developers can't take a full advantage on them. This isn't what's happening on the consoles because the hardware is always the same no matter which box you pick out of the store, a X360 will always be the same X360.

We've basicly pushed the over 4 year old pieces of equipment to their limit. Now if only a new generation of consoles would come out, with the current top end components used when producing them. I think we would be seeing huge leaps forward in graphics and possibly generally everything when it comes to gaming and yet still it would slowly start to wither away again when new stuff comes to the markets.

But as of now, PC gaming is being hindered by the consoles that are still dragging themselves behind, they were on-par back then, but not anymore.

so developers should start promoting PC gaming again and then port it over to the consoles = a better port.

Except they will always make more money on consoles since they are cheaper and straight forward.

Y'know, that whole PC vs console thing is kinda popular here, but you don't really need to be so defensive. You don't need to find something wrong with computers to hit back with every time someone mentions something consoles aren't good at, damn.

DreadStunLock

If only PCs didn't lack the games that consoles have which you can play with 4 people...That way you could play the game with your buds in the most high-def ever :P

Dude, I love PC too.  Why would I be turning into a VS conversation?

Move along Manbow, he was wondering what the point of consoles are, I told him, and he said "oh yeah, i forgot".  This is constructive, take notes.

He wasn't wondering about that, he was just talking about graphics. That's all the first three posts were, talking about graphics, and then you come in and start talking about other things consoles are good at out of nowhere. Shit, not even that, you start talking about things PCs are bad at.
Just kinda makes you look like a fanboy y'know what I'm saying bro?

Farley4Fan

You know what I honestly just got what he meant by "poverty of gaming".  Seems I misunderstood the point of the thread by an inch.  I had a really long response for you Manbow, and it most certainly would have been hard to stomach (filled with sarcasm and eye-openers), but I'll just let it go.  Lucky you amirite?

Dread seems to always wonder about the point of consoles.  I felt like telling him why I personally own consoles.  His response:  Overwhelmingly nice.

Time to drop it.

woooooow , you obviously fail to comprehend that you can do that when you have a wireless
reciever from microsoft.. using a controller, the same way you would on a console.

Agent, I think Farley also takes into consideration that a lot of the games on PC, can't really be played with buds on the couch, because most of them are only on PS3 and Consoles?
