Well I am pretty certain that they did manage to steal a lot of money from the Playstation customers, and even after taking a break to harden their security and get prepared for the worst they still need to do something about the cash loss that the customers suffered, so I am wondering what happens to that, does Pstation pay them back or it's in their Terms that if they lose it, they aren't involved?
There are no official confirmed reports of the hack getting at CC info, and no official reports of anyone having to notify their CC that there has been unauthorized usage.

I have used my CC to buy stuff on PSN. I have not had any unauthorized use of my card. I'm also not worried about it because if they do, I'll get a phone call and my bank will change my CC number.

Let's hope so Spekkio, PSN is in deep shit as it is.

I actually hope someone tries to use my credit card. It will drastically increase the likelihood that the people behind this get caught.

Moral of the story is to use prepaid cards.
It's funny reading a lot of the anti-Sony comments from teenagers, particularly ones that say people are dumb for making online purchases with a personal credit card. Making purchases at retailers aren't any more secure. Any employee at that organization has easy access to all the information they would need to steal your identity, and that's being generous by assuming their customer database isn't connected to the interwebs.

You already pay a built-in premium on goods for credit card insurance (last I heard it was about 2% of the cost of the item, but that likely has changed over the years) whether you use a credit card or not.

I see what you're saying spek.  I remember a big info leak a little while ago from a retailer but I don't remember who/what that included.  I personally had a problem with a gas station employee taking my credit card number and (ironically) using it to pay for an xbl subscription.  I'm not anti-Sony at all, if you were referring to me in your reply, and I was talking about using prepaid cards with xbl and psn.  It's probably the better option if it isn't inconvenient for you.  Of course it won't completely remove the risk of getting your number stolen, but it may reduce it.

I wasn't referring to you as anti-Sony, but I have seen dozens of comments on the interwebs that those who paid for DLC via PSN "deserve" to have their CC info stolen. Your comment that one should stick to pre-paid CC's vice personal CC's just fit in that category.

The reality is that it's safer to pay for merchandise by CC than to carry hundreds of dollars in cash in your wallet to do all of your shopping. If your CC gets stolen, you call the bank and have them send you a new card with a new number. If $300 cash gets stolen, you're SOL.
