Apparantely my friend just Facebook'd me and said it's absolutely shit, after so long they didn't have anything good in the graphics and nothing really spectacular from DX11 in their game.

But as a worker at Sony,(He is now in LA, just recently been to GCD Cologne convention show)

and from what he heard it will still sell tons of copies due to the fans wanting to play it badly.

What's your opinion?

To me, the game is a total fail, buy it, play it, pass it on.

If you're expecting a grade school joke experience of a game, then I think you'll be pleased.

If you're expecting that "A DECADE IN THE MAKING" means that it's going to be the equivalent of Jesus in video game form... then you probably never played Duke Nukem before.

This game is for the LOLz in my eyes. If they have that "Good Level Design" that Duke Nukem 3D had (don't remember, I was like 8 at the time), then that's the icing on the cake. By now though it seems to be that game you're just going to buy because even though it's probably going to be really bad, the story surrounding it's development makes it a GEM. Owning it is like being a participant in the joke. Proof that you committed to it all the way.

Like owning a copy of the movies "Evil Dead" 1 & 2, when the only one people seem to really care about is "Army of Darkness".
If you haven't noticed, I'm REALLY good at making a simple response into a wall of text.

so the game is a failure because the graphics aren't good enough.
but people should still buy and play it.

yeah that totally makes sense

No but I like the cheesyness, I totally dig it, but if the environment and the characters would be more developed and a lot more interesting I would definitely buy it, hell I love the "Koochy-koo" and the "Piss in the toilet" thing that's brilliant, a lot more games need to do that.

(Fallout: Vegas allowed you to drink from the toilet, that was a bit....eerrgh)

But if they changed Duke's suit to something more spectacular, something more powerfull and badass, yeah that would be so much better. Allow the original suit to be like an unlockable.

Star Wars: Force Unleashed II, I play it because of destruction and I love pounding stormtroopers endlessly, but the point is that in the trailer, Starkiller had the Arena gear suit that I loved, and hell they allowed it to be unlocked, and guess what? It looks great with blue lightsabers.

More development, change the armor, keep the hair and the shades cause that's like his trademark, but change everything else.

Go play postal. I don't know how for you but for me pissing in the toilet is kind of normal thing, so I don't see anything cool in it, brits don't use toilets?

Fucking hell that's just a game and it fits into Post-Apocalyptical theme of game.

I'm gonna at least try this game for Duke's quotes ;)

DreadStunLock

Knooger can you ever read? Or even think?

How many games have characters that they unzip their pants and do the piss noise? Most of them or even 99% of them are just flush sounds, and Fallout just let's you drink from it...

knooger

And what's amazing in it? What's amazing in thing that you do everyday.

DreadStunLock

Because it's unique? Because not many games have that? Because it enhances realism?

I don't think Duke Nukem is for you. Mainly because you have no clue why or what is supposed to be the point and/or humor of the game.

Next I'm going to hear something like, "The shrink gun shouldn't shrink enemies down so much. It makes it unfair. You think after so much time in development they could get balance right."

Hopefully those points you have about pissing were jokes...

Uhhmmm, the humour ok maybe...

But the thing is, it's either the game graphics really suck, or I am missing the art style...if there is...

puuusianka

The concept of the character and all his moves are special, that's what cool about him. Pissing in the toilet is just 1 fun feature.

Zedblade

the force unleashed games were terrible, the fact that you hold them up to high standards makes your opinion void.

Anyway 10 years in development doesn't mean 10 years of development time, the thing went through several engine switches, team changes and complete restarts. The game actually being released was probably only worked on for a few years. Even If DNF is just Duke Nukem 3d with shiny new graphics, I'm going to fucking love it. I'm tired of all these depressing realistic shooters, I want fun back in my games.

I don't hold it high, I only love it because of the destruction and you can pummel the stormtroopers in many different ways, which is what I enjoy, the game itself I would  give 4.5/10 to the first one and 3.5/10 to the second one.
