Conviction had EXCELLENT Single Player mechanics.  I still feel that if someone were to crack that game and remove mark and execute you could make a pretty awesome spy vs merc game mode in there somewhere, but alas.  Far from the best game in the series (multiplayer wise).
I actually enjoyed the multiplayer in Double Agent and Blacklist.  Why are you looking at me like that?

I have sworn not to play SCC. Up till now I haven't broken my word :) Did watch a few vids, to conclude it's a nice action game, but it has nothing to do with SC.

What? What about the videos you uploaded on the old website? With the CT Coops, and you also had Conviction co-op? hmmm?

Kinda taking video games a little too seriously here bro.

I guess that was my CT buddy Pretend3r who plays SCC Coop.

Yes, but the premise is still too much action-based. In hindsight, some parts of hobo Sam could be merged with some of the SCC ideas. Add a sprinkle of old school SCCT and it'd be a nice game.

In hindsight, yeah, that sounds like an okay game. It's just too bad their decisions on the direction for the game were never close to that. It was either:

-modern day assassins creed (hobo sam)

or

- 24-esque plotline action Sam (conviction)

A throwback to classic splinter cell design seemed to never be a thought past, "you still have to be sorta sneaky". Anyone remember how throwing chairs and flipping tables was a big point in hobo sam's version of Conviction? :P

...or "hero vision"...
If you haven't noticed, I'm REALLY good at making a simple response into a wall of text.

I even remember watching the tech demo and waiting for the beta to come 2 weeks later before it got canned.  I do like how Conviction ended up, but I dont like the complete lack of Spy vs Merc due to the time crunch they were on to release a SC game.

The problem is what I see, is that there are barely any players who would play Spy vs Mercenary, and I will make a best guess, I doubt it ever had more than 500-1000 people, and Ubisoft might have point about the fact that, 100 fans, is not enough for them to give a shit to make a perfect Spy vs Merc. They need something that will sell, though I hope Project Stealth will prove me wrong.

Don't you think it's kinda their fault? They never really promoted SvM multiplayer or so. I bought game and there is no even screenshot from SvM and 2 lines of text. :)
Proper promotion makes more players than anything else.

It seems like there is only a slim chance at this point that SvM would come back at this time anyway. Ubisoft seems to be taking less risks on their products as of recently, and with SvM being of little popularity means that they would have to wait for their next big sell before they "tried" something again (even if it's just polishing an old part).

As Knooger said, promotion was sparse for SvM, which is a problem, but not the only thing wrong with it's lack of reception. We all know that even if you had 10 people telling you only good things about SvM doesn't mean that the learning curve was any less steep. You had to be willing to playing a game you KNEW you were going to lose for quite a while. More so than in any other current game as of now at least. (I may not win every round of TF2, but I can at least kill people or attempt to help my team at the fine price of free. It would be a hard sell now a days to get me to buy SvM had I not been a fan beforehand.)

That line in the parenthesis is pretty much the reason why PS seems to be a good sell to people who are interested in this kinda of game. It'll be free, and it'll be better than CT (at least eventually).
