Sound Effects and Voice

Alrighty then...  My question is are we gonna have a few voices or spy/merc voices added?  In CT spies sometimes made this " aagh " sound when they were shot, and I believe that mercs did as well.  I think both teams let out a little squeal when they fell a good distance.  Will this be added into PS?  I personally think it should.  Another question is will we have a voiceover like DA's that says " Red Terminal IS HAXORS "?  Hopefully not, that stupid voice during the loading screens telling you how to do the basic crap was extremely annoying.

Another interesting idea that I have been thinking about, is giving the mercs or spies the ability to hear loud spies or mercs through their TV.  I mean if a someone on spy team starts yelling, the merc should be able to hear it over the speakers coming from where they said it.  Someone would have to say something loud enough for it to break the Spy/Merc voice channels.  This would add some realism as well to it ( although this game is not about realism I know )  That is one thing that really annoyed me in CT, some guy would totally be yelling his brains out right behind a merc, and he wouldn't know he was there.

This would keep little kids from yelling over the mic or singing stupid songs, instead of keeping it down.  Say a spy is creeping up on a merc, the spy starts yelling " OMG I GOT THIS GUY HE IS SOOO PWNED!!!11!!"  The merc would hear the sound coming from his speakers and turn around and see the guy behind him.  This would teach those annoying yellers from yelling so loud over the microphone.  I personally think that this would be fun and problem solving.  Of course this would be an option to turn on and off.

Think about if you were totally screwing with a merc, you could say " HEY JACKASS!  I am right behind you"  And then you hide and keep messing with him lol...  This should also go for mercs as well.  This is different than tutor mode...

What do you all think about this?

Something like the NPC's hear your voice in CT's coop?
I mean that it wouldn't break any communications - the merc would just hear the spy talking :P

the idea sounds interesting, but i don't think it'll be good for the gameplay or the social life XD

Agreed. The number of phone conversations with girlfriends I've listened to and have held my self are numerous. It's bad enough to get a phone call while your playing and distract you. Now the phone could warn the mercs too. That however, would be extremely funny.

If that was enabled, i'd pretend I didn't have a mic, follow the guy around and then scream "Kill that Merc!".

Make it an option in the host's menu. I want it. I want it badly. It would be so tense to be just behind the merc with your partner and cannot communicate. Or some ppl that scream while playing. They would get owned just like that.

Yeah! I really wanted that in Chaos theory. Imagine being in a merc and hearing some voice "OMGZERS! He totally cannot see me in this airvent" lol.

While it would be cool, it is easily circumvented by xfire.

while i use xfire to talk ingame, i like very much the built in voice system (you cant talk while dead etc), and the whole voiceover thing would add some realism to the play. Also the spies could easily fool the mercs, or even sneak past them if they could hear them.

And btw - how some of you guys hear a spy going crouched in the vents?

By using our ears instead of crosshair sound detector. You can hear other stuff too, like a spy pulling out his gun to scan with HB, camo going on and off and the like. I've even been told some mercs can hear a spy switching visions if they are close enough. Luckily snares help against mercs with über sound systems.

it's not uba sound systems, it's just the buggy eax and loud volumes

EAX.

Err... okay, and how can i turn it on on a non-supported sound card?
I know that eax is cheating, but while everyone usees it, i can't, and i don't know why.
Can it be because of my AC'97 on-board sound chip?

Daybreak

Wait, did you just ask how to turn it on, on an un-supported video card?

Gui Brazil

sound card Day, sound card. xD

To enable it on an unsupported sound card, you do the same you would do to run Crysis on a Pentium 3 500mhz.

Daybreak

Damnit.

Still, that's like saying how do I turn on 3.0 shaders on my MMX400 Geoforce card.
