Electromagnetic reations are much faster and more realiable than chemical ones.

Chemical reactions take several orders of magnitude longer, compared to electrons firing across transistors.

I wouldnt trust a mission-critical applicationg to run on wetware. The only advantages with them is that they have the potential to be cheaper and provide a much easier way to parallel process.

The brain is basically like a shitload of dead-slow processors that are linked unrealiably and die all the time. When you communicate across one pathway, you can't guarantee that it will still be there a few moments from then.

If my heart ever heals, I will make sure it'll never break again.

Overstatement

I hope we develop the ability to overclock our brains before computers overtake us.

The brain is basically like a shitload of dead-slow processors that are linked unrealiably and die all the time. When you communicate across one pathway, you can't guarantee that it will still be there a few moments from then.

The only time a pathway is changed it is to circumvent damage. The only time brain cells die is when you are exposed to head trauma, extreme oxygen deprivation and/or substances that kill braincells. Your brain also possesses the ability to create new pathways for circumventing damage and is even capable of re-creating a damaged brain function in a new area of the brain. The brain is also capable of incredible storage capacity. Take your average person's memory for example, they can recall just about any image, audio, smell, taste or tactile association within their lifetime.

Then there are the individuals who have the ability to use more of the brain than your average person. To even pretend we have even a clue what a brain is truly capable of is pretty foolish.

It is amazing how much your brain can heal itself. Severe head trauma is one thing, but using substances that destroy brain cells - there is hope. Your brain does in deed repair/replicate its cells. This is a good thing for those dope users: If you can break your addiction, you can recover nicely. Granted, If you destroy patches and patches of brain cells then it will be a long healing process (years I'm talking). Can your computer repair itself? "ANT1V1RU5 SC4N STUP1D H34D!!@@" Nothing like what your brain can do.

We should probably stop talking about this though. Actually we should kill this thread to stay on task.
