basicly a taser where you have to keep the mouse button pressed for it to keep working

If you were to lower a partner down so he could hack it would make a faster getaway if you just raise him back up after he smokes/flashes/chaffs the room.  Plus it his head would be in a different position so the mercs can't snipe the same spot as if he was standing up so it would be harder to snipe a hanging spy.  Also if there is a long shaft that a spy would get injured if he fell down, the other spy could just lower him down so he doesn't get hurt in the process.  If there is an objective at the bottom then the only way to get down there w/o destroying your health is by having your teammate lower you down.

OOOO  :o  I just thought of something!! I know it won't be in the game but it would rock!!

What if a spy was being lowered by his partner, then he grabbed a merc, then his partner pulled him back up the vent with a merc in his grasp, the merc's communication goes down as soon as he is grabbed, and he just lets him fall the long distance down or cracks his neck up there!  Wouldn't that be cool?!  I know that it is a dumb idea to integrate but I thought it would be cool to see.

A 'lowering' animation in small vents would be nice. For additional benefits for teamwork. I like it, but I doubt it'll make it it in.

I don't mind the idea of a rappelling-spy as long as it's for entrance/hacking purposes only.  The problem with a rappelling spy waiting to kill a merc is that too much time is wasted.  BOTH spies are preoccupied and the chances of killing a merc would be slim considering people would figure out the "rappel spots" very quickly.

If done like this, I wouldn't care too much, but I don't see it being extremely useful unless it's a far away distance in a certain map that grants secret access.

Farley4Fan

It would be useful because it provides a safer and quicker escape, you can't really be killed by a mine ( unless by a poison mine that is goin across the vent exit ), but the spy could just chaff the room or shoot the laser.  Also it would be hard to nade the person who is lowering the spy becaus the spy getting lowered is somewhat blocking the vent.  Also the spies head is in a different spot so it would be harder to snipe.  Plus it would provide access to terminals or vantage points for spies.  This is countered by the fact that spies are both preoccupied, if a merc is already in the room you are rappelling into then it is a guaranteed death, and the rappel spots would be found quickly and they would be defended as much as possible.

Hmm no matter if these coop moves are created, there should be an option to put mines on the ground.

I dont' see a point to rappeling. I mean, granted, it'd be kinda cool, but it's not worth the time to waste for the animations. Rappeling involes a lot of extra animations and the gain you get from coding it is just not worth it.

If we want extra animations, we have better more useful animations to code, like a crawl mode in addition to crouch.

Farley4Fan

It would be more useful than crawling.  You mean crawling like from DA?  Or slow crouch moving in CT?

Gawain

heck, even hiding under tables or in lockers would be more useful. (and what about rappeling without a mate like in sp?)
maybe we should do a "teamplay gadget" that allows mutual healing, the laser coop thingy, rappeling and other stuff...

Farley4Fan

That would be cool to hide under desks and lockers if there was a school map.  What if a spy could hide in any locker he wanted to, but it made noise to open the locker, and mercs can shoot lockers off of their hinges.  That would be nice to see, but I don't see why spies or mercs would be in a school lol

I mean dropping prone and crawling, like anywhere. So for instance you can crawl under lasers without setting off an alert, or drop a smoke and then fall prone quick so the merc might think you left, but you'd be hiding under his view. Also it'd make camo much more useful as you'd likely blend better with the ground than with the background.

I can actually see quite a few uses for a crawl movement. In fact, I think one of the major problems with a crawl animation would be that it might imbalance the game. Just being able to crawl under lasers alone would be very powerful. Add in prone camo and it could be real crazy.
