Previous topic - Next topic

B1nArY_001

First let me start by saying there has been a lot more constructive criticism lately and things are moving in a productive direction.

I am not directing this at any one person, but rather to anyone who may even be thinking things along the lines of what has been said and hinted at in several threads in regards to moderation.

Consider this - The project stealth forums are intended to provide information on PS, get feedback from the community and to provide an easy way for the Devs to communicate, share information and resources.

Now consider this - How many posts that are constructive in no way do we see on almost a daily basis? How many flames? How many threads have gone off-topic? If people do not have the self control and maturity to stay on topic and be constructive then maybe there needs to be someone to make sure the forum is being used for the purpose it was created for? I certainly hope not, but if people are constantly making abrasive comments that lead to flaming and derailing a thread, what is supposed to happen to remedy this and get things back on course? If everyone can be nice and respect other's opinions/ideas and not feel the need to always point out how something is stupid, or even just rude comments; perhaps there will be no need of such extremes as post deletion, closing of threads etc.

Help us keep it constructive and help this board serve its purpose please!

Binary is right. We'd like all off-topic stuff to go to SCLamers.
We don't want a second Ubi where moderation is necessary.
While I might not moderate much, I still see everything.
We're living in relatively free countries, so I grant relative freedom of speech.
Off-topic and especially non-constructive posts are frowned upon.
Actions are only taken for things that either annoy most people (or most of the Dev Team),
or violate Dutch law (which is really free... legal music/movie downloads, semi-legal pot smoking). If you REALLY think things that aren't constructive or on-topic should be posted, we encourage you to post it at SCL.

All posts are handled on a case-by-case base. So far, the Administrators have been lenient. I'll continue to do so, and presumably goodkebab and MrMic will too, but in the end all Admins mod in a different way depending on mood and situation.

For a link to SCLamers (SCL), click the green/black logo on the lower left side of each page.

In order to make this a bit more funny:

From a moderator I wouldn't expect you to post something that could offend someone's religion including my own.  Reducing Jesus Christ's miracles to pulling a cloth off of a table, please.

This is the type of thing we are trying to explain. This thread is tittled Forum Moderation, and is about governing yourself without the needs of moderators. Please show us that you guys can do this.

1: I am not a moderator. I am the all-powerful Man with the Banhammer.
2: It's supposed to be funny.
3: discard 1, it's meant ironically. We're all equal. Modding happens on a democratic basis. Heck, you can ask for a voting to ban religious pictures.

Hey, I'll make it up to you: you can post 1 picture of some person making fun of atheist people. However, it should be FUNNY. As in, even I should be able to laugh or at least grin ;) Self-reflection FTW.

K, we _prefer_ this kind of pics to be at SCLamers.

There are also things I don't like to see. As a Dutch comedian said in response to why he makes fun of other people: "Of course I also see things that I dont like. However, I make a shield for that, so it doesnt really bother me." For the rest of a debate, I'm pointing you to SCL's Politics and Religion section. I am sure there'll be a nice debate.

WTF? Seriously! He posted a picture mocking jesus and he is an administrator?  Come on now.  I don't want to post anything that could offend anyone because I am not an asshole.  That shit belongs at sc lamers.

Now now, who is blowing things out of proportion here???

Good thought by Binary, but at the same time we have been keeping things on topic. At the same time nothing new has been going on and we've been giving ideas and have yet to get a solid gamefaq or anything. Right now we have pictures b/c the unreal engine isn't out. Yes, there is the "what we've gotten done" section of the forum, but what about all the ideas we as a community are shooting out. Nothing has been "yay-ed" or "nay-ed" AT ALL. I think more concrete decisions need to be made now that we are getting closer to the release of the Unreal Engine.

I think the pic of jesus pulling the cloth off the table is hilarious btw. Yes, it has nothing to do with anything and is semi-hypocritical, but you also are blowing shit out of proportion by acting like: "GOSH HE POSTED SOMETHING AFTER SAYING WE WERE FLAMING...LYNCH HIM". Grow the fuck up....to all....

We need to stay constructive, but we should be able to have fun while doing it. We didn't need this disclaimer at all. It was nonsense. Stay on track, have a good time making the game and throwing out ideas, and start making some damn decisions instead of yelling at us for "flaming" (even though most of us are trying to give you guys ideas wih the "good idea" response but no core product)

uuhh...

Westfall for president ;)

We're definately busy with some great things. The wait should be over soon.
Some of the ideas are really helpful and will be discussed later, internally or externally.
I'm keeping track of all good and semi-good ideas.

nah, I dont think moderation is really needed till theres not much flaming here but you (devs) must know that ppl use to type silly things when theres nothing to do, so give us topics to talk about, ask us about your ideas, show us your work and we will all be happy.

Frvge, now that you have posted what could insult some people the most, I expect the same freedom ;)
