map artist (using 3ds max) and possibly any other 3d modeling that needs doing

I thought that Unreal 3 still uses an object-level occlusion culling system, since the overhead for a per-polygon occlusion culling system requires more overhead than just allowing a little overdraw. But just like Unreal Engine 2, heightmap terrain is the exception, because it's designed to be huge.

It still requires less memory to store a single Z value for a 2d grid of vertices, than have that same mesh stored in  X,Y,Z format. It also allows for higher polygon throughput for the same detail, because two of the vertex values are already defined.

hmm , i didnt think of it like that , i am just concerned with the smoothness of the terrain because game-editor based terrain has notoriously been rather angular .

on second though , maybe i could export the terrain ( its been done in previous ubi games using unreal editor for optimization) and work on top of it for static mesh detail ? ill get cracklin' on research for finding out how to export terrain now .

well since you know who i am , and you know i am wishing to join , would you submit to me a test .

i was tested before but things were very disorganised and i had no direct feedback from the reviewer of the work , so i ask that we have an organised test if possible .

also i ask that you give me a fairly long time ( not a long time ) to refine my polygon count restriction habits because i am used to modeling for all sorts of requirements , including web graphics and many many games .

i will get faster as i learn how much detail is needed and when i fully grasp my full efficiency in modeling just for you .

The PS team is currently  very cohesive,  there really is no flaming or tension among the team members even if there is a disagreement. 

Everyone understands the common goal and is willing to compromise enough of their own ego to maintain the cohesion.

None of us, regardless of skill level,  are going to risk that atmosphere by accepting people on the team that create tension.


If 3d graphics are truly your goal,  then you will easily be able to create a map for PS once UT 3.0 editor is released.  Other then that,  your reputation is based on how you present yourself,  past and present...and people recognized you by that alone.
