I think if you improved upon SCDA you could make a better game than SCCT, but thats just my opinion. Anyway.
Spy ideas,
- Able to switch shoulders with your gun out like SP.
- Wi-fi hacking gadget? Just takes like twice as long to hack and you show up in EMF.
- White spy suit for snow maps? Maybe it could work.
- Crawl under things like SCDA?
- Ammo for spies, like 5 shots per clips and a total of 30 shots, they have to reload after every 5 shots, and to make it lag-proof just make the hit box really big.
Merc ideas,
- Attachments for the rifle, a sniper attachment, shotgun attachment or larger clip. Press a key and you'll switch to your attachment? It would have a quick animation, like a your merc presses a button, so it would take about 1/2 a second to switch between them. Without the sniper attachment, you can't scope.
- Drone from SCDA?
- Able to track the spies blood drops when shot for awhile? Would be a cool effect.
- Make the MT black and white, and spies show up as pure white glowing figures when they move.
Level ideas,
- Water. Like pools, where spies can swim? And water grabs, like from SCDA SP.
- Shootable lights, but like SP where in only lasts for about 15 seconds.
- Generator like in SCDA.
I'll add more, I had alot of good ideas, but I'm at a blank right now.
Switching shoulders... hmz. Maybe.
We've been thinking about several ideas listed here and other places, but for now, we focus on a CT-clone.
Yeah, I'm more of an Xbox player, so alot of my ideas would only work for Xbox, like the attachment idea, I was going to say that the right trigger would be fire and the left would be alt (attachment) fire, like SP, but for mercs.
We have the Rightmouse button ;)
some of the ideas i think would be a good idea like switching shoulders and attachments(but i think it should only be able to happen at the spawn to keep balance) but others i dont think are cool like ammo for spies and wifi hacking.
p.s. Im xbox player too ;D
At first I was pretty sceptical about water, but right now I can't see a reason why not. I guess it would need a lot of work to make it properly and if so, it's a good addition only after the cloning is done.
Water would be nice, but no to much as it would be whored to the max. :P
"Ammo for spies, like 5 shots per clips and a total of 30 shots, they have to reload after every 5 shots, and to make it lag-proof just make the hit box really big."
A: If your suggesting lethal weapons here is the simple anwser: NO never
B: Ammo for spy gun: Ehhh it's an idea that is being thrown around but all this would do is nerf the SS which doesn't need any nerfing.

Is there any way to make an adjustable hitbox, that adjusts itself to your average ping? (For spies only, of course)
ammo for the SS???????!?? are you nuts? plz stfu
i'd love to see only one weapon (the pandora rifle), but with several attachments.
for snow maps, try out camo, it really pwns.
only features that enhance game play would be added (like new moves or gadgets) but only at a later date.
Water does not really enhance anything other then eye candy...and because swimming means more animations and controls to programm...its not going to be included.
Different suits for the spy is an option which is not expensive to integrate.
WiFi hacking is big on the list, and mercs having different attachements possible but only changeable at ammo depots (it should be a penalty to change weapons during ingame otherwise there is no disadvantage to weapon choice)
Spy tazer is not going to change (there is no reason to change it)
I actually think the water idea is pretty cool. It would not be too ridiculously hard to integrate, nor to make it look visually impressive.
It could also be interesting to see, for example, if you take a swim (as a shortcut) for the next min or two your suite stay wet and you drip and make slightly louder walking noises - and possibly leave a foot trail. So, it could get you to your destination faster, but hurt your stealth skills.
yea thats not a bad idea with water etc.
water as a graphic is possible...but no swimming, or underwater scenes that require swimming.
Something like water in a sewage system is possible...
Which is ironic since rendering realistic water is a lot more harder than swimming in it but I understand what you're saying.
i wondered if the SS should get auto aim (or does it have it already and it doesn't work?).
i also wondered about widescreen aspect ratio, because i really enjoy playing at 1680*1050 in other games. how could it be implemented in a fair way? maybe the people with widescreen should have slim black bars at the sides, and the 4:3 people should get slim bars at bottom and top, resultion in equal view angles vor every1 :D

You easily triple the man hours involved as soon as you allow the character to swim in the water. Its not about difficulty, but time it takes to do it.

what about the 5:4 people?
and the 16:9?
hmm?hmmmmmmm?

I know. Just saying, on other games, swimming is not really a problem (turn off gravity, play animation) but there are endless articles about how to render perfect water. Ironic.
The Idea of water is not so far fetched, although i'm not a programmer. But to say that this is the opportunity to blow SCCT out of the water, why would you just make a simple "CLONE"? You have the chance to do what Ubisoft IS NOT doing, and that's listening to it's "beloved" fans and vets.
First of all, we are the hardcore fans ;)
Second: our first goal is to clone the gameplay (NOT the game). If we succeed at that, we will improve on that concept and thus doing what Ubi failed to do ;)

I don't think that'll be that big of a deal. Seriously, most of the visibility problems in this game come from MT anyway.
I mean, we could cap everyone at 640x480 resolution and it still won't stop the MT whores one bit. Until we fix MT, screen resolution probably doesn't even matter.
the balance problem is the aspect ratio as merc. maybe we should give all mercs the same with slim bars at the side, but give the spies whatever aspect ratio they want to...
Here some ideas from me:
-inf. camo
-reloadable gmask (merc spawn)
-a bit less tazztime
-no noise when u activate camo
-more requiered time to shoot sticky cams (no speedies)
-better laser for merc. u need only 2-3 seconds to get that creepy spy on ur radar.
-red n blue vision have something like a battery, wich u also can reload at spawn
-gasmask is faster empty
-spy is able to move while he lies on the floor, and when a merc comes besides u, u can grab his legs and smash him on the floor

If the spy can crawl, why don't we make merc's a move tho smash the spies head with a boot ??? xD
ok last thing was a crappy idea :O
Nah - spy should have the ability to crawl, but the merc's should also have something for that, just look at club, where the spies get sniped just like that because thy cant lay down... crappy

My thoughts haven't changed. I think that water would be a great innovation to the game, not something that the game revolves around, but it would be interesting to have in a level where swimming is possible.
Scripting for that is actually not that hard at all. I could probably even rig it. you would just need two animations. One for idle swimming, and one for the actual swimming. The gravity and fluid friction and all that other stuff is all taken care of engine side.
I want to see camo underwater xD

Hybrid, you have to take into consideration the man hours behind this project. You realize it requires thousands of hours to put this kind of game out...and even more if we want it to meet the standards of CT.
Not only that, we have to do it for free, which means its done on the weekends....or after work.
That makes us quickly reduce the number of features to "must have" and "would be nice to have"
Water fits into the "would be nice to have".

lol not any fans that play mp and goodkebab is right i mean i wouldnt want to spend all my time on one thing that i do not get paid for.. who would wana do that?! lol
Due to time constraints, anything that requires animations has to be carefully weighed for its worth. In fact, I would say that we should probably axe some animation maneuvers from CT for the sake of saving time on the mod. For instance, I really don't think we need the split jump or inverted shooting from a pipe. They're kind of nice, but it's not worth devoting time doing those animations for such little gameplay gain.

You can take away the shooting, but climbing must stay

well yeah obviously. And I wasn't even saying the basic shooting should go, just the inverted shooting where you hang your legs onto the pipe and hang upside down. Virtually nobody uses that, so it's not even worth the trouble to code.
Speak for yourself.

Yeah, i use the invert shooting quite alot (ware, deftech, factory, missile etc.)
Would use it even more if kebab was nice enough to give us vertical spytraps again 8)
helll, vertical spytraps would make the newbies go nuts :D

Really? Because I've never seen it used... like... ever. What rooms do you use it in and for what purpose?
the problem with this is the loud gun drawing noise. every good merc will switch to emf and kill you in this bad position.
but it's sometimes funny in museum...

No, not really - i usually use a RedDot displayer, so i use the gun without laser (no noise).
AND!!! i played quite alot with invert moving, and i can play stealth on Warehouse (lol)
Like if you are spy, you turn left off the spawn, then you go through the tunnel, turn back (creeping - no chanse that anybody will see you) get on the boxes right of the medkit, jump on the pipe, go to invert - creep like that to the end, hack in sych with the other guy - no chanse a merc can get you before you get to the ND133 (hell, i love this name for the hacks) :D
on other maps... well on factory i use it in main, to taz mercs without them noticing while the other guy hacks, on missile do the same in the East-West bomb sites
Really, some mercs are sooo stupid....
woot....i miss vertical spytraps...those were wicked.

That some kind of hack or what?
No, it just displays a red dot in the middle of your screen - the same technology as XFire uses for in-game :D
Doesn't help much since the spy doesn't aim for the center of the screen. It depends on distance and angle.
Invisible,
The new maps with CT, by and large, don't offer any places to use a vertical shot from the spy because there aren't any pipes hanging overhead. That's why you never see it.
