So....I was walking around the UMP Polish Base and I found some kool katz here and there, and then my friend who is an associate of mine started talking to me, he said.
Associate: -Have you seen my post?
Me: -No?
Associate: -Well PS will never come out.
Me: -Why not?
Associate: -Because they don't tell us what they are working on, they take too long to do this, the forum is full of shitty spamm threads and they take way too long to make something playable.
Me: -Well they only have like 20 people working on it?
Associate: -Yeah, I know that, but they can easily make additions to the game via patching, and yada yada.
That does sound interesting, why not release half made beta and just patch the rest? If it's not buggy, people won't really care about animations not being implemented...And really you guys need a bit more update rather just twitter :/

Not exactly mean that but:
-Whole forum should have warn system + bans for people who don't respect rules.(There are people who write a lot of crap in every topic, if you don't have anything worth to post then don't post)
-Reason why we see on forums threads like "16v16" etc. is because people have no really idea about what they have to discuss, it's hard to find good topic when we don't know what devs will work on in close future.
-Devs don't post on forums at all, maybe you don't need to... but you should show sometimes that you are alive and still working on the game. I have no really idea who's active working and who's not.(ofcourse it's not information necessary for members, but it gives life for community.
-About community, you don't think so this game is so unpopular? In net I've don't see anything about that game, without good and loud advertisement you will be nothing. So Frvge discuss that point with all devs and make something to people discuss about PS on Games/PC forums around world. Truth is that we have everyday a new memeber, but they could even don't make that accouts..because they have no any post.
About patching right, but they don't have enought maps. We know just about two maps one done and Asylum in progress(what about progress btw ? :) )
Yes, yes I know you make PS in your free time. I understand it, but you should make few steps in the future NOW! <- That's about advertisment :)
Just look on modern games, companies makes loud about them, they show us one screen by one screen and game is being discussed and there is louder and louder.
If you work on quality and you are sure quality of your product will be high then stop stay behind and leave fucking shadow, that's not SC, who know mby PS will give you huge benefits in future.
My opinion, if someone is gonna flame then he should don't post. I am talking to Devs, but I know that they will do whatever they want, but I will say what I want to say.
Peace!
Probably because of a half-made beta wouldn't work. This isn't a kind of game where you can release half the features and have it be anywhere near balanced.
The people saying it won't be released sound like bitchy women. Negative just for the sake of being negative.
Commence useless conversation.
I doubt it's half made, it is definitely more than that, as well as, they don't have to have animations for ir to play, everyone would play normally if for example grab and neck snap animation wasn't done.
Perhaps if you start paying their cheques you might have a say on when stuff gets released at a time of your convenience.
Lmao your 'associate' is stupid, why would they spend time on concept art, video tests etc if they weren't working on it :D

There isn't much to the game in the first place. In a programming, animation, design, etc etc. sense there is a LOT of work to do, but in what you end up doing in-game... (running, jumping, grabbing, shooting, etc) not so much. Releasing the game with one or two of those things absent because they just wanted to release "something" would be abysmal.
How fun would it be to play if the walking animation wasn't in there? Your character just floating around levels. I'll admit it sounds kinda funny, but only in contrast of what it normally is supposed to do. Not something I would want to see constantly till they "patch it in".
If they were just spending their time working on extra guns, or gadgets, or maps then yeah this would probably be a good idea. Since I don't believe that's the case it just sounds like your associate needs to think less.
Though if you could name a few games that have done this with success, then I'd be all ears.

So it was already at 50% in 2008... so even if we count the change to UDK into it i GUESS the devs are still around 50% or maybe a bit higher...
But of course i could be totally wrong here :D
Maybe, but I agree with the fact that if PS is playable, and both sides have running animation, and some other basic stuff, it can be playable, and everyone would play it.
These animations for BETA can wait, and wouldn't do much if they weren't in a beta stage but we can play it:
Break Neck
Neck Grab
Charge
Berserk
Reload
etc. those are major animations? Maybe, but it's definitely playable without them.
Stone@ What the fuck does this has to do with anything that been discussed? Are you of your nut?
Meister@ 50% from 2008, what's now? 55%? From all that we see, there is hardly anything. As well as if that the way it's going to go, PS will only come out in like another 5 years or even more...
I am not trying to bash the PS developers, but twitter updates are too small, and even then I expected small twitter posts to be a lot more frequent....at least that what I thought anyway.

Everything, to say that the mod isn't coming close to a beta just negates logic, especially when they've been in alpha for a while now.
Oh, we planned to have something out a month ago, but because of the whining, and problems with time, it's now been pushed back. Mostly for the lolz. And I personally like Valve time.

You're missing the point a bit. They shouldn't release something that's only half finished. Yes, the game is playable without those animations, but that's not saying much because the game is also playable without maps! Depending on your definition of "playable" of course.
Plus half of those animations are already done, but then again, I don't believe it's the animations that are holding the Beta back. Sure, it may take some time to polish, but it seems like it would be one of the "quicker" things to get done.
It's more likely those bits that... I dunno.. connect you to other people, have a reliable connection, hit detection, finding servers, using objectives, etc. They don't seem to be twiddling their thumbs taking render shots of a "NEWLY ANNOUNCE" 37th gun for the Merc, holding back Beta because, "Oh it just doesn't look right".

The only company I trust with polishing is Rocksteady Studio, PS really can't afford to polish an indie game because they are missing out and losing too much attention from the public and competition on Indiedb, think of the flight to epic(something) they wanted to go? What did it require? Something playable, they do not have that.
You're complaining because we don't have anything playable? I'm sitting here running around one of the maps right now buddy. We all work on PS almost every single day, and there's even less people working on PS than you know. You see all those try-out members? Most of them get accepted and then sit on their ass and do nothing, only to be removed a week later for inactivity. I really wish we could put out more updates, but that's not possible right now. How about instead of complaining that we apparently aren't working on this game, you go and develop a skill set that can help us do it faster.
Pretty sure frvge already said something will be released this year.

Tigaer is right for the most part. Id like to vouch for one of the try-out devs right now and I will say he is busy with school at the moment but I dunno if he told you that or not but he will get to work right away once its all said and done interms of assignments.
Aside from that around 2007 that there was people who had the talent but didn't produce.
Plus people come and people go, some people leave due to personal reasons and some people leave due to conflict or differernt point of views/ opinions .

Well, consider the fact that 3 people on my Xfire always spam when Project Stealth will come out and I have no reason why they think I have any chance of knowing that, maybe this thread will be a bit inspiring for them, but in anycase, I still want a clear up of why PS just can't make a patching system, it will make PS release earlier, and the rest can be done with patches, I am sure people will prefer that?

Ever entertain the thought maybe they wanna perfect things so that ya don't have to download 5 , 6 , 7 patches just to have things flowing right.
I guess, but would be nice to see developers view on this, and maybe Frvge will make a new bloody poll on the forum just to see how many people would agree, because this would be nice to know....unless it's been done ofcourse.
it makes no sense to publish anything inferior to ct beta.

I don't think you re right dread about sending out a beta earlier is possible. There are many technical things that you miss because you don't even know they exist. Like connecting two players merc and spy. Ok we can put them together on server and they will have all anims but only the guy in front of the computer would see his own anims and every other guy would just be like a static character all the time flyig around the map. everyone will just see their animations because every player has to send the info about their position and anims done and it's damn hard to do as far as I know.
My suggestion let's start asking devs what's done. They don't have to t
show us the films or pics but I wish to know things like:
1. Is "spy Cooperation move(body ladder)" done?
2. Is "merc sniping anim" done?
3. Is "spy going over the rail" anim done?
4. Is "spy sticking to the wall" anim done?
5. Is "breaking neck over the rail" anim done?
6. Is "spy using tazer" anim done?
7. Is "merc placing mine" anim done?
8. Is "spy punching merc" anim done?
9. Is "merc grabing a spy who is on the floor" anim done?
10. Is "sticky cam using" anim done?
11. Is "merc using camnet" anim done?
12. Is "ladder climbing" anim done?
And so on. You know what maybe I should make a thread?
You know, I would actually find it hilarious if they decided to release the beta for everyone but Dread. Just for shit, giggles and of course because they just can.
I think I already had that feeling......Frvge at least definitely knows I did...

Sweet, at least that clears up our heads a bit, what are the developers working on now though? And how big is it?
The custom build. It's the result of a merge of various parts of older code, but a lot has been added and refactored. I don't want to spoil what is in it, but the indiedb had some points that are certain to NOT be in it.
And judging by the progress, how long would you say it will take for that to complete? In average/estimate? And what could be the next step possibly?
EDIT: Nvm I'm blind!
Thx for answers frvge! You're my man! But I might be back with more...
When he says he doesn't know, I think he means literally he doesn't, he might not get the full information on PS because comisserg might find it inconvenient to send every detail every day to Frvge or something, I might be wrong and probably I am.
"I dont know" means I don't know at that moment. We have lists, but I don't know the exact status of everything on that list without looking at it.
