It looks awesome already.
Awesome soundtrack.
Not really seeing anything awesome, all it is, is just a distorted video with a blue neon, and couple of military hardware with troopers....
Well the big thing for me was definitely the showing of the jet at the end. I think that was done to show the players that they are making a true, huge PC battlefield and not a smaller/console bad company style game (good as they are). 64 players would rock my socks, but even 32 players would be fine if they add some destruction elements.
The maps must be huge if they are bringing back jets so I hope that they want to fill the maps with lots of players. I saw the helicopter and I was like meh I guess they are keeping it small/simple again, and then WHAMFLAMBAMJAM the jet takes out the chopper.
Also one more thing. It's releasing this year. Finally a game that isn't teased/announced about 4 years before it's ready.

Well, DICE already confirmed 64 players (in the PC version). They also said it's not going to feel like a console port. :D
I wonder if it will have excellent quotes like BF2 did.
I refuse to get it for console, considering it's lack of 64 players, so I'm just going to wait until I get my new computer in a few months and buy it then. I'm a huge BF2 fan, so hopefully this game lives up to it's predecessor.
No map is big enough to justify jets. Attack helicopters are as advanced air support that should be operated by players. Jets should be something the commander can order on a specific target. Having players up in the air doing dogfights without helping with ground support is pointless and makes for bad gameplay.
I hope it will be modable so we can expect Project Reality picking it up. The whole reason I bought BF2 was just to have a blast with that mod.
Project Reality for BF2 and rest GTFO, believe me.
If they are bringing jets back, those bastards better make good controls for the Jets and the Helicopters, BF2142 just fucking sucked when you had a gunship -.-

No, it's just that you sucked when you had a gunship. Uhuhu.
Technically I only had it once, and the controls sucked for every flyable shit on that game, the controls for the rest were good except the hover tank. (And flying machines too)
no XP support :-X
seems i need 7 sooner or later...
Project Reality will kick this ass anytime

Yeah, check out "New Era Warfare" they are testing 128players server.
Now even BF3 can suck :D
I've played yesterday on *NEW* server, everything worked fine for me and that's even more amazing.
BTW.
For any reason, I cannot login on xfire ?
You have any problems with it guys?

I sure hope they use a proper communication system instead of that console bullshit.

Another CoD, even cross-hair is the same...
... what the fuck happened to modern games.
Shitty bullshit!
And what would you call modern? There hasn't been a single game released that was good where you can shoot enemies and kill them with 2 bullets straight away....
Lol nothing like Cod.
Battlefield is one of the only military FPS franchises that tries to distance itself from COD.
64 players online, huge areas, vehicles like jets, that's what BF is about.
The video is single player, and should be fun to play through, but BF is all about MP. Obviously from the single player video you might see something generic but this is just a short gameplay reveal and it looks/sounds absolutely fantastic. Can't wait to tear it up online.
Yeah but there is not much difference to the game modes, maybe different looks, but same concept.

How did you get that from some single player footage
Because after Battlefield 2 release, even BFBC2 did not manage to surpass the player count every day like Battlefield 2 still does.
CoD is for twitch gamers and little children. At least Bf2 didn't try to insult your intelligence. I am looking forward to this as long as they don't make a mess of it like they did with Bad Company. It would be nice to have a game like this made more for the PC than for the ADD console kids.
CoD doesn't try to insult your intelligence, it's just a fun game that a lot of people enjoy. Stop being a pretentious fuck, nobody thinks you're cool for saying CoD is for kids ;)
@Dread, that's because the Bad Company spin offs were designed for consoles. This one was designed for PC, which is why I'm personally so excited.
@Bubba, it was designed for PC and DICE says its a true sequel to BF2.
@STON3, I find that hard to believe when everyone I hear while playing that game can not be over 16 years old. Yeah, it's fun, but face it. It's simplified garbage aimed to please the "OMGEXPLOSION!" crowd. 2 words: "Tactical Nuke"

Stop being a fuckin dick to someone who expresses their opinion :D (does the smily make it better?)
Nobody thinks you're cool for being a dick :D ( again, does that make it better?)
@Farley That's good news, finally a PC game actually designed for the PC. BF2 was a blast here's hoping this is the same gameplay.

As far as I can tell, most of the people who play SC started out when they were under 16 years old, including me. It matters for nothing ;)
I don't even know why on earth you are bringing age into gaming? There are people who can be under 16 and give opinions. And if someone says idiotic things like "LOL, MONSTEEERRFFAAAIAILLLALALALALALALALAL you are wrong" Well, you can see how intelligent they are.

I agree. But by "kids" bubba meant people obsessed with instant gratification/explosions/mark and execute and no interest in having patience. I'm home sick today and tried to play black ops with my buddy. I ended up having to mute everyone because of their social ineptitude, total annoyance, high pitched squeals of "OMG TOMAHAWK", bitching, cussing that ended when their moms walked in the room, etc. Those kids are different from the kids who played SC.
Your telling me that kids who play SC do not bitch or cuss at the end of getting their ass handled?

same here, it's like ubi tralers. no actual gameplay.
Not really.. The graphics shown in the BF3 trailer actually looks like the actual engine.
RickLick, Youtube BF3 gameplay trailer, it will show quite a lot of the footage of what the gameplay might look.

Yeah that pretty much sums it up. I played BF2 for a long time and with the squads and team oragnization you had to play as team, especially if you played competetively (TWL). We never saw kids like Falrley describes in TWL, it was mostly mature gamers who were organized, not anything like you see in CoD. My experiences with CoD was all pick up teams where everyone did their own thing. The only team play was red vs blue and that's where it ended. I am looking forward to BF3 if they keep the same formulas that made BF2 sucha good game.
That's a very big if, especially for PC gamers.

I'm saying a game that requires patience tends to not be attractive to kids who want non stop action. The percentage of those kids is definitely lower on SC than COD.

... however even if BF3 Looks like it, it's not really the engine.
And you're basing this on what? To me the trailer looked solidly like it was actual gameplay on the frostbite 2 engine, and it's starting to look great.
As long as Dice manages to deliver an experience that's atleast on a par with what BF2 delivered or even better I'll be happy.
(edit: tab + enter ain't a good combination)
Considering the game is being developed by DICE, the words "PC First" are by DICE and the game is only being released by EA, I'd say you should be paying more attention to the work DICE has done rather than on what EA is known to do. On another note, it's a series that continues to sell well, why would they want to fuck it up? it's going to sell well even before released since it is a well known franchise.
Well known? As if, COD gets advertised 500 times more than Battlefield games, and then people piss that COD people are noobs who don't know shit, yeah they don't cause DICE don't fucking advertise enough!
Just because a game doesn't get advertised as much as CoD does, doesn't mean that it's not well known. Just look at all the servers BFBC2 and BF2 have running, I'd definately say it's well known. Even if the game is old it's still being supported a whole lot.
Then imagine how much they would have had if they advertised it...
God you are one of those" Everyone is a fanboy and they should play that instead of that"....Seriously, people should play what they want to play.
Just because they are under EA doesn't mean that they'll let EA walk all over them. I never had ANY problems with playing BFBC2 on my quad core. And you're talking in past-tense, it might have HAD those issues for some but it's been fixed. The people working at DICE are ambitious, they aren't just going to release a pile of crap just because they are working under EA. I've seen the quality they've put into and yet to see a game from them that I didn't enjoy, this includes the whole battlefield franchise and mirror's edge excluding the last-gen console Battlefield. EA is publishing a lot of games from different studios, just because it was published by EA doesn't mean it's automatically filled with hardware issues and such. Besides, game developers learn from their mistakes, and they're ultimately making the game, not EA.
You're just acting on some weird generalization from the moment you notice EA, you aren't paying attention to the actual developers, and by saying "recent EA published game" and not stating the studio who created the game for EA to publish you prove that point. And at ANY point did I say that I don't do my research on the game even though I'm a fan of DICE, their work, and Battlefield?
Perhaps they just added MP for the sake of having an MP mode? I am not into Medal of Honor series, but it does look very similiar to COD if you vice versa the MP and the Campaign.
Quote from: Limerick on March 10, 2011, 11:44:38 PM
explain Medal of Honor multiplayer... i dont feel robbed becuase the Singleplayer is great, however the MP is a POS and everyone knows it.
I don't have to explain because it was developed by DreamWorks Interactive, they made the game, how is it relevant to what DICE has already been known to make? DICE has already made multiple games with a great multiplayer experience. The singleplayer most of the time is enjoyable but lacks replay value, if the game even has one (BF2). You're still comparing games from two totally different studios that are working under the same publisher.
I am curious, how buggy will the BF3 start out? (Sorry for the jump on a different topic)
But it is interesting to see how much they changed...
Sure, I'm curious too. I hope and I believe that they learned from the whole BFBC2 fiasco and that they spend a good while bug testing and everything since it's a new engine. I wouldn't mind a month or two of extra just to have a lot more polished release, just hope that EA won't be pushing them to release it too soon.
So far the best company for polishing is the Arkham Asylum one, I can't remember what's it called >< They did a hell of a job there.
Rocksteadystudios IIRC.
I like Bioware for their art in Bioshock. And Valve for their support. And Blizzard for their RTSes.
Bioware dissapointed me with Mass Effect storyline which was rubbish, Valve, I don't think I ever played any but Team Fortress 2 looks phenomenal, Blizzard Entertainment is my world <3

Have to agree whole heartedly with those. I just got hooked up on SC2 again after the beta and it's a blast. Bioware is in my opinion one of the best storytellers at the moment in the game industry.
I don't think Bioware made Bioshock.
Bioshock doesn't have nearly enough awful romance options tacked on, yeah. If Bioware made it you'd be able to cuddle with a big daddy or something.
Whoops, Irrational Games/Take2 for Bioshock.

I don't know why, but Mass Effect story just really came out "Typical", "un-interesting" and without depth.
So far the only games that have an amazing storyline to me are:
Deus Ex GOTY <----Realistic plot, could may as well happen in real life, great depth, loads of information.
Bioshock <----Quite original, great voice acting, simple but very powerfull emotion.
WoW <---- Almost every area has it's own lore, almost every item you pick up has a story, very huge in-depth explanation of what reacts with what.
StarCraft 2 ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^
I don't see how the story can be typical if it can unfold in so many ways according to your choices. Don't make so many typical decisions. ;)
And don't forget, the story isn't even finished.

No fucking way did I just read that.
If you guys are ever having issues with your self confidence (winks at a select few), just read this thread. Should take approximately 1 post until you feel like asking at the hottest girl you know while wearing nothing but fishnets and shades.
Yeah but the story ends in Mass Effect 3, as well as the choices are kind of bland because the only thing that changes is the Renegade or Paragon status, nothing else.
I kind of disagree. I get into the story/universe when a choice I made in the first game comes back to haunt me/ pay off. Even little nods like the girl on illium that says "Hey the Noverian queen says watsup and thanx a bunch k bai" are awesome. Not many games have the kind of same level of continuity and broadness combined.
My Shephard lived in my first playthrough of ME2 and Thane died. Next playthrough, totally different outcome. I don't think a game with so many possibilities can be typical. I think Mass Effect is more about the characters/arcs than the main story (at least that was the deal in ME2), and the main "typical" story about evil aliens is just a backdrop.
Maybe, but teammates deaths don't really change much, even Invisible War was a sucky released game compared to it's prequel, it allowed you to kill anyone, literally as long as they are out in the open, in Mass Effect you can't kill anyone or start a shoot out in a Citadel which is what pissed me off :/
