And I'm Dutch, not European, we Europeans don't have the same feeling like Americans do (as in United States). Yes, we are a United Union, but we don't express ourselves as Europeans. We are Dutch, English, French, whatever.

Ps. Yes, I know I contradicted myself, just wanted to explain something.

this thread is becoming ridiculous.
btw, we stupid "european players" are quite efficient with chat:
"h"=heal
"2"=both here
"zzz"=sleeping
"bp"=backpack
"main coop"
etc
it's not that you need voip to play good. without mic you play a little bit more concentrated and pay more attention to noises. and sometimes you simply aren't in the moot to talk or listen to a hissing microphone.
with everyone's mic activated ingame, a good player would simply use teamsay to circumvent the hacking, so team messages should be shown, too.

Lo and I aren't the best snipers or anything like that. We are able to do well as merc through communicating, knowing where each of us are, and always knowing the relative position of spies, thus being able to give each other backup as needed and stay in good position. Sometimes I think we use the mic more as merc than as spy.

I mean, how do you efficiently type in factory "one going to digger, one heading to corridor c" and have your partner acknowledge which one he's going to take considering that you have to move to cut the spies off? What about little stuff like "I hear someone rolling around" and then you either get a "me too" or "no I didn't hear that" which helps you narrow down the spy's positioning?

Or things like...
*security failure*
"I didn't hear that, did you?"
"Yup"
"Where are you?"
"Tank room"

etc,

That's not to say that you can't be effective without a mic, just that I find the use of them is a very integral tool to my play.

Having said that, I wasn't hating on Europeans for using 3rd party VOIP. I was just stating that they do. I was hating on the stupid Ubi bug that makes everyone's mic disabled if the host disables his, so everytime it's "mics plz." Then you get the occassional asshole who refuses :(.

Typical stereotype.  You say that like Europe doesn't have fast food and all americans eat fast food.  Wrong.  The truth is not every single American is fat, and not every american eats fast food everyday.  I eat a home cooked meal usually and if not, it is a restaurant meal like a steak dinner.

At times I eat fast food, yes.  But please, everytime I argue with someone from Europe ( regardless of country ) they say that I am fat.   :D

Seriously Agentx, if I don't want voice chat enabled then I don't have to. Somedays I don't feel like talking to everybody I meet and that's that. As for smurfing, who cares? Just play the game

Not everyone has to use Xfire, most guys dont even show they're playing games when I've been playing them.

It IS okay. Alot of players in almost every game will not stick to one account in order to not lose something whether it be rank or pride. Why should CT be any exception?

I don't even understand what point ^ is making. If you mean people are two faced and treat you differently when smurfing you it's probably because you give them reason to or they're just jerks.

there's no doubt that less smurfing and more mic usage would be good for the commmunity, but i can't see a strong relation between using mics and smurfing XD
the problem with people is that they tend to make fast conclusions so that good players fear to loose their reputation when they just play for fun, try out something new, etc.
smurfing is also fun against clueless clanmates =)
the smurfing in ct went over the top though as it's quite a rare moment to see real nicks nowadays.

YEah, I didn't say it directly to you lennard.  I meant when I argue with someone from Europe they always say their famous "stupid fat American" line.  It's just gotten funny! I'm 6 foot 210 lbs with less than 10% body fat.  15% is the average.

Well, MrMic and I went to Atlanta and we counted the non-fat people. I believe there was a street whore who didn't pay attention to the traffic (had to brake) who was thin. But that's probably because of heroin or something. There are plenty of normal sized people, but more fat people than here in Holland.

But in general there IS a difference in the amount of obesitas or just fat people between Europe and the US. Still it's rising in Europe I believe.

Of course you'll see fat people in America.  But that doesn't mean that every single american is fat you know?  I'd say most obesities here in the states are when people get retired they let themselves go because they honestly don't really care at that point.  I'll be playing varsity baseball here in the next few months and no one on that team is going to be overweight.

I did get the impression afterwards that we eat more vegetables and fruit and less greasy stuff. (although I asked for really American food, so maybe that's why).
My time in the USA isn't enough to really say things. It's great to live there, but there's definately a difference in (eating) culture.
