Just thought of 2 things, not sure if they have been discussed already.

#1 i was reading an article that said Halo 2 was unique for there matchup / party system until Halo 3 came out, which means Halo 2/3 are still the only games with this party system.  I think it would be awesome if you could party up before joining or hosting a game.  It would make it a lot easier for friends to play together when there isn't enough ppl for both sides.  What kind of lobby system are we looking at?  Also a global chat in the lobby would be kinda cool too, or the option to whisper to friends in game like in Warcraft 3 when your on battle.net

#2  we sticking with 2v2 or are the maps going ot be big enough for 3v3 like in DA (still not sure if I really liked 3v3 tho)

#1: Depends on the things we can do with UnrealScript. iservelot probably knows most about it.

#2: 2 vs 2 for now.

What if you made some maps, like 2 or 3, that were big enough to support 3 players per team?  That would be pretty interesting.  You would have to carefully place the objectives and what not so it would be balanced for 6 players.

But of course the rest of the maps should be 2 vs 2.

And there wouldn't really be a point to partying up because there are only 4 slots per game to join anyways.  Maybe you could only party up with your partner and just search for games that have atleast 2 slots open.  Then yeah, it would help rooms fill up faster.

As far as a Halo type matchmaking system. UMmmm no. IMO anyway. It just doesn't suit Stealth types.

And as far as how many per match. I think it should be the hosts decision. But maps should be optimized for either 2v2 or 3v3.

I agree halo match making sucks, its nice to be able to pick what sever you want to enter and how long you want to stay there.  I just think the party system would be a nice touch for teams, like you get together then the "host" of the party selects a game and you both join.

I think that you should be able to join a server with you mate. But it's more of a nice-to-have feature, really.

Gawain

the whole problem is that there are tons of people too dumb to read the server name. "teams only" would be sufficient.
i don't think that we need a team join function or other more sophisticated lobby mechanics until we have more than, say, 200 story mode players online at the same time. and even then, you can arrange matchups with irc, xfire etc and host a pw secured server.

The good thing about Halo Matchmaking is the fact that it tries it's best to evenly match up teams, so its as fair a fight that it can make it. Mainly because there is so many people playing the bloody thing! This on the other hand wont have as many (mainly because it does away with the screaming fanboy prepubescents)

The server system is much better an idea

Woo no prepubescents!!

Also no one has commented on a lobby chat? (i guess this would be a nice-to-have feature also...)

Depends on the possibility we get from the UT3 menu-system. As far as I know, UT3 doesn't have it.

That would suck, i cant imagine a stealth game without being in constant contact with your team mates.

Normal in-game chat and lobby-chat is supported.
But Global chat (before joining a server) probably is not.

Hey i can live with that. I was almost gonna suggest using the button voice commands from Quake Wars. That would have been bad.
