Gears of War was 90% indoors.  I've played it for years, I would know.  A lot of the maps on multiplayer are outside, but they are mostly all in urban environments where you can even go inside.

For my proposed Jungle Map, I would LOVE to use CE2 and the sandbox editor.  :D  It's just incredible to say the least.  But I know that most of PS maps will be urban environments. UE3 has a whole different style to it that I think SvM would look great in.

Again, it's a great choice.

A Jungle Map is still very much possible using UE3. Especially if you use Speedtree.

Play UT3 and you can see how big some of the outdoor environments can be.

I look at the cry-engine as a one-trick pony.

It does jungle islands very well, but that's about it.

I'd be willing to bet that the CE2 can do more than just jungles, but it has yet to be seen.  Have you played the aircraft carrier mission of Crysis?  It looks incredible in an environment like that.  But obviously its specialty is jungles and such.

Btw, would a aircraft carrier map on PS be a good idea?  You have the hangar, the deck, etc...  Could be quite fun.
