Yeah I'm with you. Who the fuck says congratulations on B-Days? It makes no sense. It must be a euro thing.

It actually is, in Dutch we say "Gefeliciteerd" when someone is a year older, in English, that literally is "Congratulations". The usual term is "Happy Birthday", though, I'm Dutch after all, so I say it my way :D But you're completely right it being a Euro thing, it's a (too) literal translation.
