It would be cool if people who participated in beta were given something extra (in case it's open beta). It could encourage people to try it and after some time it would make them recognizable among community. It's a matter of discussion what it could be.

I personally think proper marketing is most important. It would require much more activity than now. Info about beta should be given on many modding forums, there could be some riddles about content, there should be decent webpage, tick tocks should be made different way, there should be dev's diary, moddb page should be updated once a week.
You may say that many people are interested in the game right now but the ammount of these who will eventually download it, will be smaller.
It's a shame PS wasn't noticed at moddb this year but this only proves that there's still much to do.
Just look at how Blizzard advertises their games and how others do that.

what about xfire adds (probably pretty cheap), game magazine articles (just contact editorial stuff), some more unwanted/covered links/hints/whatever at the ubi forums, etc? maybe you guys should start some paypal donation account for advertisement fees, server maintenance etc.
but i'm sure everthing has been thought through by now, it's probably just that it makes no sense to make big announcements as a mod without a proper web portal and a public beta...

what about giving players who registered during the beta phase a small special logo in front of their name (like the bf2 sign in 2142)? this fame-system could be expanded easily: a symbol for devs, for people bringing over 5 friends to register for the game, etc.

You guys want to be noticed in a video game that badly?

I <3 U

the xfire thing seems like a good idea (think i suggested that once before). but advertisement is cruciallll

Succubus Dryad Of The Undying Comet

Uhh guys, sorry to bring it up, but the UT3 community is pretty dead.
Even UT'99 has more players right now (not mentioning UT2k4), so I don't see any reason to advertise. It's not like people will suddenly switch games -.-

It's either that or open beta, suit yourself.

Oh and the: "you're dedicated", wasn't you as in Agent, but you in general.

ok your contradicting yourself by saying me in general , I have no beef with you but your provoking me so id advise you to stop.

He's saying it as "you" = plural. You, as in I'm looking at YOU people....YOU...all of YOU....not you = agent

that's the biggest problem to overcome (after getting the first attention via advertisement). it's way easier for a source mod to attract new players than it is for a ut3 mod. maybe we should let it slip that you don't have to buy this crappy ut3 to check out ps. all my friends that i told about ps requiring ut3 were like wtf, i have to spend 10 bucks just to check it out?!

considering ubi can't do anything about ps legally, i'd suggest all of us spam ps advertisement on the ubi forums once there is a proper ps portal. they won't be able to stop 100 folks bringing through the message...

frvge

They can put it in the censor-list.

If you're serious about advertising, you could ask PC World for a follow up (they did the article last time right?) or other PC Magazines, or just post in forums or ModDB.

UT3 is Dead becasue of the cheaters I think. It's too bad they didn't do anything for anti-cheats in the game. Will PS have something in place for anti cheat measures? I don't know how complicated it is to do something like that but it would be nice to keep cheating assholes out of the game.
